By podcast@mail2tv.com (RikerDonegal) The middle section of the episode has - what is probably - the funniest sequence since the pilot. Sam is barefoot and trapped by a hallway full of broken glass. How is got there is an example of genius comedy writing and the results are hysterical. Worst Week. Episode 9. "The Wedding" Nicely orchestrated chaos defined this episode. All the recurring characters pop up and events conspire nicely against Sam until - amongst other things - he sets the swimming pool on fire. 30 Rock. Season 3, Episode 6. "Christmas Special" Elaine Stritch returns. And is wonderful. Jane Krakowski sings. And is also wonderful. It's a funny episode. Alec Baldwin blows everyone off screen with his guilt (over Jack hitting his mother with the car).   [read the full post]

By podcast@mail2tv.com (RikerDonegal) 30 Rock. Season 3, Episode 5. "Reunion" Another winner. The Liz high school reunion story is very funny and very clever. It confounds expectations, very nicely, when it reveals that Liz was the mean one at school. She didn't plan it that way, and she doesn't even remember it that way, but... she was mean to everyone and they hate her. Hilarious. Alec Baldwin pretty much steals the episode and it proves, once again, that the show works best when Liz and Jack are teamed up in the same plot. House. Season 5, Episode 9. "Last Resort" The hostage-siege episode. With Hugh Laurie and Zeljko Ivanek in the same room (and a gun between them, too) you expect it to be a truly superb episode with great performances. Not so. It's actually a pretty weak, kinda dumb storyline. And...   [read the full post]

By podcast@mail2tv.com (RikerDonegal) 30 Rock. Season 3, Episode 4. "Gavin Volure" Steve Martin guests in a hilarious outing. It's hard to pick highlights when every minute of the episode yielded about two, but I particularly loved Liz's idea of a relationship (basically lots of TV watching and 'no funny stuff'). The Tracy story was a winner, too, but the absolute highlight of the episode was Kenneth performing street theatre. That, alone, makes this episode of my favourites. Law And Order. Season 18, Episode 17. "Personae Non Grata" Law And Order normally doesn't make me laugh, but this episode had me laughing out loud all the way through. Why? Partly because the events of the story are so absurd and partly because the guest stars are fantastic.   [read the full post]

By podcast@mail2tv.com (RikerDonegal) 30 Rock. Season 3, Episode 3. "The One with the Cast of 'Night Court'" is the first funny episode this year. Tina Fey rocks. I loved the scene where she tried to lure her wild and crazy friend away from Jack with promises of a wild and crazy night on the town. Liz's idea of a wild and crazy night, and her faked enthusiam, are the highlight of the episode. Jennifer Aniston (such a funny, funny lady) is perfect for this show. Highlights include: her Happy Birthday song and any time she freaked out on Jack. Alec Baldwin is a perfect foil to her actions. Loved their stuff together, and all his scenes with Tina/Liz. Keen Eddie. Episode 13. "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" Keen Eddie ends with another good story and another great episode.   [read the full post]

"Believe in the Stars" Is it me or does 30 Rock always take a while to get 'up to speed' every season? I'm just not feeling the vibe this year. Again! This is a fine episode. Amusing in places. Weaker than the premier. Weaker than 30 Rock at it's best and certainly weaker than Office, Corner Gas or Always Sunny. Oh well, maybe the next one will have me laughing... Jack was badass cool. By podcast@mail2tv.com (RikerDonegal) 05.30 Law And Order 06.30 The Jury 07.30 30 Rock 08.00 Life On Mars 02.30 Wings I've enjoyed these 14 episodes of Law And Order as much as any episode from the first decade of the show. While Jerry Orbach and Chris Noth will always be the quintessential detective duo on the show Green and Lupo come pretty darn close (in my book) and I've had an absolute ball watching them together this season. I wish Martin/Green was staying, to be honest. Megan Mullally underplays it and gets lots of good laughs. But the big laughs go to Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Baldwin's character is about to sell his body to get ahead. Highlight?
