SI.com’s Jon Heyman reported that Diamondbacks left-hander Doug Davis has been claimed on waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers. But the Diamondbacks, who wouldn’t trade him for lower-level prospects pre-July 31, aren’t going to give him away for nothing. They’re not looking to dump salary.

Part of this is a lack of motivation on their part, at least when it comes to closer Chad Qualls, who won’t be eligible for free agency until after next season. Part of it is a lack of genuine interest from other teams in pitchers Doug Davis and Jon Garland.
