By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) A lot of excuses from the Hawks fans. Some are valid, some aren't. The fact that they were missing Josh Smith is a valid point since Smith is their second best player and could have made a difference. Blaming the refs wasn't so valid. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The big news today is that the Memphis Grizzlies have given Hawks' restricted free agent, Josh Smith, an offer sheet worth $58 million over 5 years. The Grizzlies are the only team left with cap space now that both Philly and the Clippers have used theirs up and are the only team who could have given him an offer other than the Hawks or a sign and trade scenario. The Hawks had 7 days to match the offer or let him go but it didn't take them long to announce that they would match the Grizzlies' offer and keep Smith on the Hawks. It makes you wonder if the Griz will go after any of the other big free agents who are left like Ben Gordon or Andre Iguodala with their unused cap space. Then, he was wined and dined by the Clippers before they got Camby. Now, the only team under the cap that could offer him more than the MLE is the Grizzlies but they are in cost cutting mode. So, it seems that Josh Smith is stuck with the Hawks unless they can work a sign and trade with someone. Sources say that the Hawks are offering Smith a six-year deal worth $60 million. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Hopefully the Celtics won't concentrate too much on Kobe. The key will be to stop everyone else. Kobe can get his and the Celtics still win. Remember Michael Jordan scoring 49 and then 63 against the Celtics in the '86 playoffs? The Celtics won those games. One player can't win a game. If the Celtics can stop everyone else, Kobe can't beat the Celtics by himself. On that note, I am very sick of all the Kobe hype. In my opinion, he is still the jerk he has always been. I want the Celtics to win this so I won't have to see his phony grin all over the media for the next year. I also want them to win this for Red. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) After losing 3 games on the road to the Atlanta Hawks and having their character questioned as that series went to 7 games, most expected the Celtics to learn from their mistakes and come out strong in this game to finally get a road win. But, it was more of the same as the Celtics' defense once again did not show up and they didn't move the ball or take the ball inside near enough. The Cavs shot 54% from the field while the Celtics shot only 41%. I am just at a loss as to how the Celtics can hold the Cavs to 32% at home and then allow them to shoot 54% on the road. The Celtics also allowed the Cavs to out-rebound them 37-33 and the Cavs turned those rebounds into second chance points. The Cavs wanted this game more and it was obvious from the beginning. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Both the Celtics and the Cavaliers are in a familiar place going into game 3. In round 1, the Celtics were up 2-0 on the Hawks. Most fans and writers were predicting a sweep after the Celtics dominated the Hawks by an average of 21 points per game in their first two home games. But, the Celtics played very un-Celticlike in Atlanta. Their trademark defense was nowhere to be found and ubuntu went out the window as it seemed to be each man for himself. The Cavaliers have also been here. Last season they were down 0-2 to the Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals. In truth, the refs are just bad. They make terrible calls and non calls on both teams. Celtics fans just seen the ones on the Celtics and Hawks fans just see the ones on the Hawks. But, in reality, they are blowing calls on both teams. There is one thing that can't be refuted, though, and that is the fact that in this series so far, the Hawks have taken 45 more free throws than the Celtics (155 to 110). The Celtics have also been called for 21 more personal fouls than the Hawks. By FLCeltsFan Just a few thoughts on this Friday before a very big game 6. The Celtics need to win this one. Yes, they lost two games in Atlanta where they in no way resembled the Celtics team we saw all season. They played no defense in those two games and looked old and slow. Then, they came back to Boston for game 5 and all was right again. They found their defense and once again looked like the Celtics we all know and love. Hopefully the good Celtics will show up and they will get the win tonight. The Pistons righted themselves and got a blowout in game 6 and the Celtics should do no less. If the Cavaliers and Wizards go to Game 7 and Utah closes out Houston, the Celtics would host the Hawks at 1 p.m. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

They can come out and crush their spirits if the Hawks are on fire out of the gates. The west has a bunch of GOOD teams. Only one of them have ever won a title... That being the Spurs of course. No, truly great team would have lost 2 playoff games to this Hawks team. It's good that the Hawks won 2 games, but this Boston team ain't great. Boston will end it in game 6. Boston doesn't deserve to win no title. If they do, it's an injustice. Horford gets slapped in the face, the same thing he did against Garnett, no Celtic gets a tech, but Woodson does. By FLCeltsFan Here are comments found around the Hawks boards during their game with the Celtics. It's funny that this game gave some Hawks fans hope that they can beat the Celtics and it showed others that they have no hope. All I know is that the Hawks are a tough team with young and athletic players and we better take them seriously. We gotta fight for our lives tonight and show Boston that we arent an easy first round opponent. But it is not like the big 3 are playoff studs. We know what Duncan, Billups, Wade, Kobe, and Lebron can do in the playoffs, KG, Paul, and Ray have all had their problems in the playoffs. So nothing is for certain. But, the Hawks are much improved with the addition of Bibby and have some very talented players who will make the Celtics pay if they take them for granted. By FLCeltsFan Bob Ryan is on the Doc bandwagon. Regarding Doc Rivers, Ryan has long been on the bandwagon. He states, Before the sixth game of the 1988 Hawks-Celtics playoff series, I went over to Doc (then a guard with Atlanta) and told him that he was one of the best guys I ever covered. I love Doc.
