By LaRevolucion44@aol.com (Rokk Krinn) The New Avengers roster is another weakness. Spider-Man and Wolverine are genuine A-listers. But, honestly, Spider-Man has never historically been a team character. And Wolverine is way too overexposed and brings nothing of value to the New Avengers. While Captain America is an A-list character, Bucky as Captain America is more of a B-list character. Ms. Marvel, Ronin, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, Mockingbird and Iron Fist are all B-list and C-list characters. And there is a lack of diversity in terms of types of characters on this team as we get a team that is comprised mostly of street based urban styled characters. [read the full post]

Norman says that he is running the Avengers and that Ms. Marvel is the leader of the Avengers. Ms. Marvel spits that she only reports to Tony Stark and that Avengers Tower is Tony’s house. We zip to Avengers Tower with the new New Avengers, I guess, assembled. Norman stares at the old picture of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye. Norman tells Ms. Hand that his current Avengers are missing something. Ms. Hand suggests that Norman needs a “Jarvis.” Norman agrees, but says that the team itself is missing something. Jessica sees Jarvis and realizes that she left her baby with Skrull posing as Jarvis. Jessica flies off for the Avengers Tower. Ms. Marvel grabs Luke and follows Jessica. The three arrive at the tower and see that their baby is gone. Luke cries. End of issue. The Bad: However, the fact is, and I confirmed it once again by looking at the cover, that this is New Avengers #47 and not Luke Cage Special #1. And since this is an issue of the New Avengers I do actually expect an Avengers related story that actually stars the Avengers. By Rokk Krinn The Good: I cannot believe it. Mighty Avengers #9 was a fun read! What a refreshing change of pace to read an Avengers comic book that actually felt like the Avengers. Bendis cranks out a fast paced issue. Mighty Avengers #9 was properly plotted, which is also a surprise. This issue is quite focused and progresses with a clear purpose. The fact that this issue was so well paced and plotted was a pleasant surprise. For as plodding and dull as New Avengers has been, it was nice to see Bendis flash his ability to actually produce a tightly written and quick paced issue. And it is fantastic for the Avengers to finally tangle with a legit villain. The Hood over on New Avengers simply isn’t Avengers material. Hood is a fine villain for tiles like Heroes for Hire,... Sentry streaks through the wall of Avengers tower and finds Lindy’s mutilated corpse. Sentry gently holds his wife’s body. We see one of Ultron’s tentacles behind the Sentry. Between Tony Stark, Ms. Marvel and Black Widow, the Mighty Avengers is loaded with extremely talented field generals who are more than qualified to lead this team into battle. And that many qualified people to lead this team should certainly lead to some conflict down the road. I am enjoying watching Ms. Marvel continuing to battle through self-doubt in her growth as the Mighty Avengers new leader. I continue to like Ms. Marvel more and more with each issue.
