Opinion: Team USA Olympics Report Card
After Team USA went 5-0 during the pre-Olympic exhibition tour, I wrote a report card for SlamOnline. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were the three "A" students. Not surprisingly, they also finished at the top of the class on my Olympics report card as well.
Anthony (19.9 ppg), Wade (19.3 ppg) and James (13.9 ppg) were the three leading scorers on the 2006 version of Team USA that settled for the bronze medal in the FIBA World Championship. Howard and Elton Brand split the start...

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Wow! It sure is quiet around the NBA. The biggest news I found today is that Celtic Hall of Famer, Robert Parish, turns 55 today. Parish still works with the Celtics behind the scenes and works with Clifford Ray summers in their big man camp in Florida. With Clifford Ray and Robert Parish working with new Celtic Patrick O'Bryant on a regular basis, you have to wonder if maybe another center traded to the Celtics from the Warriors may surprise people. When the Celtics got Parish from the Warriors he was considered an underachiever and a trouble maker. While O'Bryant was never a trouble maker, he certainly has been an underachiever. I'd love to get some of that old Robert Parish magic in the Celtics newest center. [read the full post]

By David Friedman(noreply@blogger.com) Bryant was a landslide winner in the 2008 NBA MVP race because he led the Lakers to the best record in perhaps the toughest Western Conference playoff race ever and if that award needed "validation" then he provided it by carrying the Lakers to the NBA Finals, defeating the 2007 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs and the 2007 Western Conference Finalist Utah Jazz along the way. Bryant averaged 31.9 ppg on .509 field goal shooting in the Western Conference playoffs. James had a great 2008 NBA regular season, establishing himself as the second best player in the league behind Bryant, but his inconsistent outside shot enables elite defensive teams to sag off of him, resulting in low shooting percentages and high turnover rates: James averaged 22.0... We already have a very promising PG in Rondo but could use another very good PG as back up so that West can move to his natural position of SG. By FLCeltsFan There are several very good veterans reportedly available. There are several very good players who will be available to us in the draft. I have a lot more faith in Danny's drafting than I do in his trading. Mocks are coming out with some having us taking Yi and some Noah. I like what I have read about Noah. He knows how to win. He is working very hard to improve himself and I think he will push himself to be the very best he can be and think he would be a good fit for us. Yi's defense is suspect and there are questions about his age so I am not sold on him yet. Hawes might be a possibility. Or if Mike Conley was available we might even go for a point guard. Danny has gotten a new PG every year so far so why break the string. Rondo and Conley would be a nice PG tandem. Corey Brewer i... [read the full post]
