By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Ought to be an easy game for Yao. Obryant is starting and he is just a scrub. Yao doesn't have the strength to battle Perkins but shouldn't have a problem with obryant. I wonder how much Boston plays their guys, yesterday they played KG, Ray, and Pierce under 10 minutes each. Artest took out Pierce...although it looks more like Pierce was faking that one. These Celtic commentators know absolutely nothing about the opposing teams. LOL T-Mac destroying poor Tony Allen. Artest has to get better position when he drives. That's twice now that Pierce and Walker pushed him under the rim to where he can't finish his shot. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) After all the talk about Stern reforming the refereeing and bringing in an Army General to oversee the program, we saw a lot of the same old stuff tonight as they allowed the Rockets to get away with hard fouls and they called the game very much one sided with the Rockets taking 48 free throws while the Celtics took only 29. With just under 7:30 left in the first quarter, Pierce drove the lane against Artest and was literally mugged by Artest with no foul called. The Rockets took advantage of the no call and scored on a fast break at the other end while Pierce went to the locker room with a bruised shoulder. He would return after a brief absence. Moments later Artest gave Ray a hard hip check that sent him into the first row, again with no call. Later, Artest...   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The Celtics bench pulled out the win against the Cleveland Cavaliers behind a strong performance from Tony Allen. The Big Three all played under 9 minutes in this game and Doc went with various combinations off the bench for the rest of the game. At times the Celtics' bench was playing against the Cavs starters. The Cavs got out to an 11 point lead but the Celtics young guns fought back and pulled out the 96-94 win. I wonder if the drop in playing time for the starters had anything to do with how hard they are playing when they are in. At one point, Paul Pierce hit the floor chasing a loose ball and his head bounced off the floor. He went to the bench checking on his teeth and that was the end of the starters playing time.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Derren.Matts) Starting 5: Perk, KG, Pierce, Ray, Rondo He may be exciting to watch, but ask yourself this: does he have the conditioning (stamina) to last an entire NBA season, plus the playoffs? is his ball handling good enough? is his jumper good enough? does he have counter moves to use when defenders take away his initial move? These are the things he'll focus on in the D-League, and in the long run, it will benefit him, and us, when he improves in these areas. Now, we still have 3 more roster spots open, but its for inactive players. I think Scalabrine and Big Baby will occupy 2 of the spots, and the 3rd will be kept open for PJ later in the season. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) I'd say keep in mind he was being guarded by Kevin Garnett. Although on the much hated Celtics, we must give credit where credit is due and that is Kevin Garnett is a: MVP, Defensive power, and a hall of fame forward/center. Any team Garnett is on wins championships. Unless GM'D by Kevin McHale, whom until recently sucked at his job. It really is a white trash salad down at umass. The Boston(city of losers) Celtics are the most overrated team in the history of the NBA and will not win the NBA Finals. **** Boston. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Both teams were sloppy with the ball as the Sixers turned the ball over 21 times and the Celtics turned it over a whopping 26 times. That is one area the Celtics will definitely have to address. The Celtics out rebounded the Sixers 38-34 and shot 48% to 45% for the Sixers, but the turnovers really hurt them. In spite of the loss, I liked what I saw from the young guys tonight. I liked what I saw from the starters. Of the new players, Patrick O'Bryant and Bill Walker were especially impressive. Tony Allen's play was very encouraging as he seems to be finally getting back to pre-injury form. Next game is Friday against the Cavaliers.   [read the full post]

Assistant coaches Tom Thibodeau and Armond Hill were to run the defending NBA champions in Rivers' absence. Also to miss the game is Sam Cassell who will miss the game for personal reasons. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) When the Celtics signed Sam Cassell, it was obvious that someone on the roster was destined to be cut. With 4 point guards on the roster, it seemed that one of them might be the obvious cut. Eddie House just signed a 2 year contract. Rondo is secure as the starting point guard and with Sam being pretty much assured of a spot, it seemed that Gabe Pruitt might be the odd man out. But, this quote from the Herald suggests that all 4 point guards could make the final cut. So, if the 4 point guards are safe, who is the 16th man? We can rule out the starting five so Perk, Rondo, Pierce, KG and Ray Allen are safe. And if the Herald is right, then Sam, Gabe and House are safe as well.   [read the full post]

Last season there were questions about the point guard spot, but Rajon Rondo showed us that he is quite capable of being the starting point guard on a championship team and Eddie House answered the questions at the back up in spite of being put on the shelf for a part of the playoffs in favor of Sam Cassell. This season, Gabe Pruitt is expected to be able to contribute at the point and Sam Cassell is back for insurance. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) We were third in the league in offense. The Celtics play great defense, but our offensive woes are not all due to the Celtics' defense. James Posey and his normal dirty play. Lakers got a break there. Kobe fouled on that steal and refs let it go. This is the Finals. The Celtics are a tough team. We didn't play well. We won. It seems like the Lakers haven't even played a decent game yet. I'm pretty confident going into Boston. so did we defend our home court? Or did Boston just want to win at home? One nice thing about the Finals going back to Boston...at least Mike Breen might not mention that Paul Pierce is from Inglewood again... Hopefully Perkins can't go on Tuesday. Without him there to clog the middle, Lakers can get inside. Lakers live to fight another day.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Congratulations to the damned Boston Celtics for winning the 2008 NBA Championship. We're done. It's over. Props to the Celtics -- great defense, great heart. The Celtics make history on us!! We suck Eddie House telling the crowd to "Shut up"...another toole on the Celtics...uhg Well Boston is a better team and they deserve to win....Congrats Cs. Congrats to the Celtics, they are truly warriors and the best team this year. Celtics will win this. I want them to win it in L.A.: I want Kobe to see Celtics celebrating in Staples and fire them up real good for next season. I can't believe Doc Rivers will be a NBA champion, something about that just doesn't sound right.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) We lost game 1 because Radman cant even guard Pierce who was on only one good leg. So far Doc Rivers has outcoached Phil Jackson and it isn't even close. Pierce is the primary reason why we are losing the series. Not only is he playing well offensively but he's putting us in the penalty early and opening up things for everyone. Think about it, if Pierce isn't drawing fouls, who on the Celtics is? Rondo? No. Allen? A few here and there maybe. KG? Not really, he shoots to many jumpers. Perkins? Nope. Pierce is the key. If we take him out of the game, the Celtics will lose, no doubt about it. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The Celtics started the 2nd quarter with Ray Allen, James Posey, Leon Powe, Sam Cassell and PJ Brown and this lineup came out aggressively and started the quarter with a 10-0 run. They took the lead at 24-22 and never trailed after that. The Celtics continued to pour it on and they out scored the Lakers 34-20 to take a 54-42 lead into the half. The Celtics held the Lakers to 42% shooting in the quarter. The biggest difference came at the line where the Celtics shot 19 free throws to just 2 for the Lakers. Kobe was held to 4-10 shooting for 9 points. KG didn't shoot much better, going just 3-11 for 8 points. Box Score] Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) We haven't won a game in the playoffs that Rush officiated..... Celtics getting away with murder out there Boston messed up by going away from kg I think Pierce will return.....so the Lakers better get a good lead now. Wow, the Celtics really look shook up with this injury. Oh sh*t, now Perkins just got hurt! Boston is the softest team we've played in the playoffs, outside of their big two they suck. Pierce is a drama queen. Injury was exaggerated. The Lakers are better than the Celtics. Pierce knows it and is trying to inspire his team. Rondo 10 free throws. Kobe 4. Need I say more? Can someone please just explain to me how Rajon Rondo gets more respect than Kobe from the refs? Kobe was cringe-worthy today. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Then came that fateful day, July 31, 2007 when it was announced that Danny traded 5 players and 2 draft picks for Kevin Garnett. Gone was Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair (without having had a Sebastian Telfair night at the Garden), Gerald Green and Theo Ratliff's expiring contract. The trade for Ray Allen was enough to change KG's mind about coming to Boston and he agreed to an extension on his contract. Most Celtics fans, myself included, were excited about the trade but were also very sad to see Al Jefferson and Ryan Gomes in particular go. I was very skeptical at first. Big Al has a ton of potential and I could see him becoming a dominant player for years to come and I really didn't know how much KG had left after 12 hard years in the leagu...   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Well, the Pistons have finished off the Magic in 5 games. They won on the road and they did it without Chauncey Billups. That should concern the Celtics in that they haven't been able to get it done on the road in 5 tries at full strength. Another thing that is concerning is that the Pistons are now sitting back and resting while the Celtics are going to have to go at least 6 games and possibly 7 if the Celtics can find some heart somewhere. This is assuming that the Celtics can come back and win 2 more games. I used to think that the Celtics were a lock for the Eastern Conference finals but the way they have been playing I don't know any more.
