They broke up their starting lineup and Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson are gone and only Vince Carter remains as a cornerstone of this franchise. They have gone into full rebuilding mode and are hoping to hit the jackpot with one of the big free agents in the 2009-10 off season. That should concern the Celtics in that they haven't been able to get it done on the road in 5 tries at full strength. Another thing that is concerning is that the Pistons are now sitting back and resting while the Celtics are going to have to go at least 6 games and possibly 7 if the Celtics can find some heart somewhere. This is assuming that the Celtics can come back and win 2 more games. Out of their 9 experts, only 2 predicted the Celtics to win the Eastern Conference. 5 picked the Bulls, 1 picked the Pistons and 1 picked the Cavaliers. Here are a sampling from the comments section: Jon Barry picked the Celtics 1st in the Atlantic and 2nd in the East. Like the lakers with the big 4, nice face, but not much use. I doubt if they could even make the east finals. Like the Celtics are so proud of the game yesterday against the spurs, but the thing is, the Celtics strived, but the spurs are merely fine tuning for the play offs, popovic said he "regret not calling a time off"... that's not what a top coach would hesitate doing in a true game, he was just letting the players make decisions on the court. By FLCeltsFan I've said this before: Is it a coincidence the Lakers are also allowed to this same slap happy defense. I know, but they got away with it a LOT more in the game in Boston. One thing is for sure... Its gonna be very difficult for any team to get more than 1 win in Boston in the playoffs, especially if they are allowed to reach, slap and grab as much as they do. Since they have the best record in the league (and HCA throughout) that means you gotta win all your games at home and hope to STEAL ONE on the road, cuz you won't get 2 from them in Boston in the same series. By FLCeltsFan Tonight was the 61st anniversary of the first game that Red Auerbach coached in and before the game, they announced that the parquet would be known as the Red Auerbach court from now on. The Red Sox were also honored before the game as they came out onto the floor with their World Championship trophy wearing Celtics shirts. The final score was 103-83 and the result was never in doubt from the first quarter on, although the Wizards did cut the lead to 16 at one point after it had ballooned to 27 in the third quarter. He had to give up Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff and 2 first round picks to get him and immediately there was concern that we gave up too much in the trade and would have no bench. Al Jefferson was a very popular player and was just on the verge of breaking out as an All Star himself. So at first, the reaction to the trade was mixed. First, Reggie was on and Patrick was asking if he decided and Reggie said that he doesn't know what he is going to do yet, but he is working out hard and doing 2 a days trying to see if his body can do it. He was the Chinese National team's best player in summer league and he does have some NBA experience. For the most part they’ve found good talent in the draft, but the players have either been dealt or become injury-prone. The fifth pick in the Draft may not get them a Greg Oden or Kevin Durant, but it should allow them to take someone worth getting excited about in Beantown. They suggest that we target Yi, Noah, or Horford. I have been leaning toward Noah, myself. I have a lot more faith in Danny's drafting than I do in his trading. Mocks are coming out with some having us taking Yi and some Noah. I like what I have read about Noah. He knows how to win. He is working very hard to improve himself and I think he will push himself to be the very best he can be and think he would be a good fit for us. Yi's defense is suspect and there are questions about his age so I am not sold on him yet. Hawes might be a possibility. Or if Mike Conley was available we might even go for a point guard. It was his father's ring and this quote in the Ebay Ad explains a lot about Gaston and what he did to this franchise: He has documented that his father had owned this ring for more than 10 years prior to his death. The son has also stated that he had legally owned the Ring Free and Clear prior to me obtaining the ring from him. The son had no desire to keep the ring as he is not a sports fan and he wanted some collector to be able to enjoy it. Gaston is not a sports fan and obviously wasn't a Celtics fan. By FLCeltsFan According to a press release on RealGM, Tony had successful surgery on his injured knee today. The Boston Celtics announced today that guard Tony Allen had successful anterior cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery along with cartilage repair to his left knee. The surgery was performed this morning at New England Baptist Hospital by Celtics Team Physician, Dr. Brian McKeon and assisted by Dr. Paul Weitzel. Allen is out indefinitely with no timetable set for his return. Now comes the tough road back through rehab. I know Powe will be an inspiration for him, having fought back through 2 ACL tears and rehabs. We all wish Tony a quick recovery and hope to see him in training camp next season.
