I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard him. I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to. God knows, I am SURE there are PLENTY of people who can't stand to hear me sing either. I wouldn't dream of assuming that, and I am sure that far worse things have been said about my performances than I would even venture to type here. To me, that's fine. Is it the hip-hop singer who cries foul when he doesn't win? Or the pop-singer who came in second and was nothing but happy for the friend who won. Is it the man who doesn't want to have to deal with fans? Or the man who lets his fans verbally abuse him, then quietly sings he will be right here waiting with open arms, if and when they are ready to come back. Clay sang "I Could Not Ask For More". Randy said they are looking for the best in America and he said "Dude, you are one of the best in America. Paula said for him to be truthful to who he is as an artist and he was a definite contender for the finale. Diane said he did a great version and she loved his voice. Simon said he didn't see Clay as a recording artist but he would make a fortune on Broadway. As before - This is only Clay's performance. Carmen Rasmusen was eliminated. Randy, Paula, and Lamont gave Clay a standing ovation. Paula was amazed at his confidence and Lamont said that Clay looked like he already arrived and that was the look of a Star. If he was not stuborn and did not make that trip to Atlanta. If Paula was there that day? If Clay sang a different song? Clay has always said that he did not want to temp faith. He always left the door open to whatever God had planned for him. I cannot imagine him going down a different path. I cannot imagine not having that voice in my life. Would Clay be working with Unicef or have the Bubel Aiken Foundation? Would he be married and have his two point whatever children and the principal of a school?
