Mon, Aug 27 The run defense was bad, especially on one side of the line. The corners also struggled, and overall the Cowboys couldn't create sustained pressure and only had one sack. It did appear that the Cowboys weren't quite as blitz-happy as they were last week and stayed in base formation a lot, for...

Thumbnail 6 Months Ago, kickholder from The Know Your Dallas Cowboys says (in Opinion: Cowboys 20, Panthers 13: Feels Better Than a High Ankle Sprain) 3) Owens finally broke Frank Clarke’s record for touchdown receptions (14) by hauling in his 15th of the season. Clarke, by the way, caught 47 passes for 1,043 yards in 1962, for an average of 22.2 yards per catch. Owens certainly wasn’t bad in that category, finishing with a 16.7 yard average.

7 Months Ago, Dave Halprin (Grizz) from Blogging The Boys says (in Film review: Cowboys vs. Jets) WR – Terrell Owens had a quiet day until the TD in garbage time. Darrelle Revis did a very good job of shadowing him. Owens might have had a TD early in the game but Romo underthrew him. Sam Hurd and Miles Austin contributed three catches and I like Austin’s speed with the ball in his hands. Getting h...

8 Months Ago, Dave Halprin (Grizz) from Blogging The Boys says (in Film review: Cowboys vs. Giants (offense)) Special Teams – I’m not sure if Anthony Spencer took over Cricket Anderson’s special teams role, but he was particularly active on kick coverage during the game. Miles Austin looked OK running back kicks, his first one of the game was nice. Keith Davis forced the holding call that brought ba...

And Dave Halprin (Grizz) from Blogging The Boys says (in Film review: Cowboys vs. Eagles) RB – Again, nothing but excellent play. Julius Jones scored a TD on the ground, ran hard for 56 yards and had some good runs after catching the ball. Marion Barber scored a TD on the ground, ran hard for 57 yards and had some good runs after catching the ball. They were mirror images in this game wit...

9 Months Ago, Dave Halprin (Grizz) from Blogging The Boys says (in Film review: Cowboys vs. Vikings (offense)) WR – Terrell Owens checked in with a very productive day; a TD, some great catches and no drops. He also drew double-teams that helped other receivers. On one play, they put an OLB on him with a safety over the top, and that left JJ open underneath and Romo hit him. Owens had a sweet catch on a 3rd and...

10 Months Ago, Dave Halprin (Grizz) from Blogging The Boys says (in Film review: Cowboys vs. Bears (defense)) The surprise of the game for me on film was Stephen Bowen. He was in the game a lot more than usual and he made some plays. In the first series of the game he rushed the QB from a standing position as the Cowboys were playing games at the line and got to Grossman to force an incomplete pass. In a series l...

And Dave Halprin (Grizz) from Blogging The Boys says (in Film review: Cowboys vs. Bears (offense and special teams)) I can tell you watching the game over again for the film review is much more fun when we are winning. No matter what happens, if we make a bad play, it always turns out OK in the end. So keep winning Cowboys.

Special teams review

And The Gryphon from Gryphon on the Dallas Cowboys says (in Cowboys sign 2 players to 53 roster, and several to pratice squad) The Cowboys came back Sunday and claimed two players off waivers from other teams, prompting two more roster cuts.

The Cowboys also formed most of their practice squad on Sunday, signing seven players who have been with the team for the entire training camp and preseason.

11 Months Ago, The Gryphon from Gryphon on the Dallas Cowboys says (in Cowboys @ Texans (preseason) film review: Offense) Jason Witten saw extended time in this game and responded with three catches for 47 yards and a TD. Tony Curtis was the main backup to Witten and caught a long pass from Brad Johnson for 33 yards. Adam Bergen had no impact on the game.

Flozell Adams turned his guy loose on a play forcing Romo out of t...

Also pretty easy. Julius Jones looked good and scored a TD. Marion Barber looked very good with 2 TD’s and some hard-nosed running and Tyson Thompson showed incredible speed to the corners. What’s not to like?

And The Gryphon from Gryphon on the Dallas Cowboys says (in Who will Cowboys ride out with?) Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, executive vice president Stephen Jones, vice president of college and pro scouting Jeff Ireland and head coach Wade Phillips might appreciate Owens' comments, but there are pieces to the puzzle that still need to be put together.

15 Months Ago, Grizz from Blogging The Boys says (in Opinion: Cowboys roster evaluation: Special teams) The Cowboys could use a punt return guy and you usually get those from the CB or the WR position. Since the Cowboys have a need anyway for help at those two positions, it’s likely that we will get a few candidates in the draft.  Also, with the need for some depth at LB, the Cowboys will get some youn...

16 Months Ago, Grizz from Blogging The Boys says (in Opinion: Cowboys roster evaluation: Inside linebacker) With Ryan Fowler leaving in free agency, the Cowboys could be very thin at ILB if Bobby Carpenter and/or Kevin Burnett play outside. Including the Cowboys decision not to re-sign Al Singleton, although they still could, linebacker is a position of need in terms of depth. Like the outside li...
