Lady Bullseye says that the reasons for her attack are too numerous to list. However, if Kingpin wants a specific cause then he should ask Daredevil. Lady Bullseye pulls the two swords out of Kingpin's back. Kingpin falls to the floor. Lady Bullseye and the Hand ninjas exit the scene. Brubaker ends Daredevil #116 with a great hook ending. By theothermurdockpapers@gmail.com (Christine) I've been very busy today so rather than finish the post on the Daredevil Annual #2, I thought we'd take a quick look at a rather amusing development from Daredevil #115. You thought that Matt getting attacked by Lady Bullseye, the Hand, and a couple of friends turned zombies was the big event here? Wow, you just missed the biggest mystery of all: the strange case of Matt's disappearing and re-appearing pants. Below are six panels, presented in chronological order, that show the "are they or aren't they?" state of the pants in question. To aid our slower readers, I've included a pedagogical arrow so you know where to look. ;)   [read the full post]

Rate Early reviews and speculation on Daredevil #115

Original at The Other Murdock Papers external link    Tue, Jan 27

By theothermurdockpapers@gmail.com (Christine) There are a couple of good reviews out of Daredevil #115 as of this writing. The first one is Comics Bulletin's Dave Wallace and the second is by CBR's James Hunt. Both seem to be hinting at much the same thing: The conclusion of the Lady Bullseye arc is one you didn't see coming, but it is jarring in how it fits (or doesn't fit) with what has gone before while being interesting enough on its own merits to somewhat redeem the inconsistencies. Just to warn everyone, the CBR review does contain one spoiler that you might not want to know about, while the Comics Bulletin review doesn't give too much away. What I do find encouraging is that both reviewers in this case are left hopeful about what the future holds for the book, and that's something to be happy...   [read the full post]

By theothermurdockpapers@gmail.com (Christine) With the Black Tarantula, Master Izo and Iron Fist on Hands watch, Matt has another encounter with Lady Bullseye, though it's not the one you would think. In fact, the "must see costume" crowd may be a little annoyed with this issue, even though it's so full of action, albeit of a different kind, I don't understand why anyone would care. I've seen some reviewers out there who have said that this issue reads like an interlude and that it has a "middle of the arc lull," but I would say that it advances the story much more extensively than the last issue did. Especially if you view Matt's personal dilemmas as central to the story.   [read the full post]

By theothermurdockpapers@gmail.com (Christine) One of the lawyers representing the Donovans is a Japanese woman and many of us started wondering whether this might be Lady Bullseye herself. Matt seems to be wondering the same thing, and I'm sort of liking his paranoia here. But, as some people put it, "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're not being followed." I don't think this character is Lady Bullseye, and I have to give a lot of credit to Michael Lark for 1) drawing characters that are distinct in appearance and 2) actually managing to draw an Asian character properly (check out the page-wide middle panel of preview page nine. Lots of artists don't strike me as being very good at drawing non-white characters, but I think Lark does a very good job.   [read the full post]

Daredevil #111 Marvel Comics Brubaker, Mann, Gaudiano & Hollingsworth The start of a new arc gains a new reader: me. I read the freebie last month that explained the past four or five arcs of Daredevil and level set the field for new readers. I heard this issue was great so I gave it a shot and I liked it a lot. I didn’t think it was outstanding but I found it to be a really good start to a new arc. The story appears to be simple enough. Matt and Dakota North, private eye, spend a little too much time together while Lady Bullseye watches Matt and some others reporting her findings to those who are ready to take them down. That’s really the whole story. However, the story goes deeper than just that.   [read the full post]
