It's down to David Archuleta and David Cook. The first David is a kid with a great voice and no marketing potential. He's more Taylor Hicks than Kelly Clarkson. Do people actually want to hear those slow, weepy ballads anymore? No. Can he sing anything upbeat and poppy? No.
