Morning, everyone!  It’s THURSDAY! :) I saw a comment earlier asking how they could become a writer for the site.  If you’re interested in becoming part of the staff, click here! :)

The Salt Lake Tribune has an article titled “Archuleta Returns Home”.  Here’s a snippet:

Since he finished second on last year’s “American Idol,” David Archuleta has headlined shows in Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Idaho.

But never in Utah, his home state. Until this week.

Archuleta performed Tuesday in St. George, and Friday he performs in West Valley City at the E Center, his last U.S. stop before heading to the United Kingdom in April.

The Murray native was resting his voice from the demands of his first headlining tour, so Archuleta recently answered Tribune interview questions via e-mail.

On his emotions as he approaches his biggest-ever Utah gig:

It’s my first headlining tour, and it’s been such a blast so far. There’s nothing that compares to that feeling of being home, and I’m really looking forward to it.

The Electric New Paper based in Singapore has a great, funny article on a fan and what she did to win passes to meet David!  Click here to read the entire article.

WHAT would you do for a chance to meet singer David Archuleta in the flesh?

What about parading down the street wearing nothing but your swimsuit?

That is exactly what Louis Patricia Cahigas did.

She became the first person to win a pair of passes to meet Archuleta as part of an ongoing contest with Radio 91.3.

Listeners SMS the station with a dare of their choice. 91.3 deejays will then contact the contestant and get him or her to perform the dare live.

The Deseret News also has an article on David’s concerts in Idaho!

To say the crowds at the David Archuleta concerts in Idaho last week were, well, a bit unusual would be an understatement.

Half the fun was just watching concertgoers interact with each other.

The teenager from Utah — runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol” — brought out a most eclectic crowd.

I’ve attended my fair share of concerts, from N*Sync to My Chemical Romance, but I’ve never seen a crowd quite like this.

And now for the St. George videos…

David Archuleta’s all about sharing the love for pop music

We interrupt our regular Season 8 programming with an update on Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta, who is currently wrapping up a very successful solo U.S. tour.

I attended his show in Reno, Nev., last Wednesday at the Grand Sierra Theatre (formerly the Reno Hilton). The 2,000-capacity venue was sold out and the line to get in (it was general admission) wound through the casino and down one side of the building outside.

I must refute the constant claim that Archuleta’s fans are all teen-age girls. While, yes, there were quite a few matching that description in the crowd, there were also plenty of men and women of all ages. In the pit in front of the stage, easily 40 percent of the people singing along and bopping up and down were male.

As for the show, well, it was fantastic. If you liked David during “Idol,” you would probably like him even more now. His stage presence has obviously benefited from months of live performances. And as the reviewer for the local newspaper noted, nary an off note was heard all night.

More on David Cook:

There are three things about David Archuleta that strike me as refreshing:
• His technical singing skills are rare among pop singers. His powerful voice completely fills the venue — and yet he always resists the temptation to go over the top.
• You can’t help but notice how much he simply loves music and singing. He’s been called a human jukebox because of the way he breaks into song every time he hears a phrase that reminds him of a song lyric.
• He’s forging a “new cool” for pop stars without even trying. He doesn’t need — nor is he capable of — the crotch-grabbing and msyoginist insults of other male artists his age. Instead, he’s constantly touting other singers — including David Cook — without expecting any such support in return.

This is just “I’m Yours” from the medley David sings:
