By noreply@blogger.com (Greg Eno) Big Al: Yes? (I'm never sure how to answer "no?") Joe Dumars' reputation is on the line with the next couple of off-seasons. I really think there are only a few safe bets to return: Rodney Stuckey, Will Bynum and...and...well, that's about it. Everyone else is either already out the door ('Sheed, McDyess, Iverson, Herrmann) or trade bait (Prince and Hamilton, Afflalo, Brown, Maxiell) The Pistons literally rolled over and quit against the superior Cavs, and only Antonio McDyess played like he actually gave a sh*t. I'm ready to blow it up. Blow it up good... But which free agents want to come to Detroit? I think a trade for a big name or two is more likely, as some Pistons do have value (Even if some of them rolled over and played dead in the playoffs. I’m looking... [read the full post]

By Patrick All Eyez On Me: Your nationally televised game today matches Miami (36-32) at Detroit (34-34). The bruised and battered Pistons should get Rodney Stuckey back in the lineup today, but don’t expect Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace to return yet. That means Antonio McDyess should continue...

By Tom Ziller by Tom ZillerThat Boston would like another veteran reserve for its frontcourt is not new information: the Celtics were heavily involved in courting Antonio McDyess in November when the player gave the impression his return to the Pistons was not a preordained procedure. Iverson Dealt To Detroit
Original at Hoops Addict

By Ryan McNeill Turns out this was a bit premature because two games into the 2008/98 season Dumars pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal which will see Allen Iverson head to Detroit in exchange for Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb.
The Internets are alive: Pistons trade Billups and McDyess for A.I.

By J.E. Skeets The FanHouse: "This deal isn't about tomorrow or April, though: it's about July. Iverson is a pending free agent, while Billups and Antonio McDyess will take up $19 million of cap space next season. If Dumars lets A.I. flee and fails to re-sign aging forward Rasheed Wallace, the Pistons will b...
Allen Iverson for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess Is the Word From Stephen A. Smith

By Will Brinson The curious thing here (things, actually) are, first, how does the backcourt shake out for Detroit? Iverson will have to play point, presumably, with Rip Hamilton at the two and not really a small forward type. But Rodney Stuckey is clearly the future in Motown, so there might be a plan in pl...

McDyess Leads the Way as Pistons Beat Celtics, 94-75
Original at 20 Second Timeout
• Tue, May 27
By noreply@blogger.com (David Friedman) Antonio McDyess had a flashback to how he played before knee injuries limited his athleticism and now Pistons fans are partying like it's 1999--that was when McDyess made the All-NBA Third team for the first and only time, averaging a career-high 21.2 ppg and 10.7 rpg. McDyess had 21 points and 16 rebounds as Detroit defeated Boston 94-75 to even the Eastern Conference Finals at 2-2. Those numbers, once routine for McDyess, represent playoff season-highs in both categories. McDyess is the only Detroit starter who was not a member of the 2004 championship team and he is one Piston whose effort and focus are constantly at a high level; his mind and heart are always willing, though his body may fail him from time to time. In this game, the Pistons fe... [read the full post]

Mr. Big Shot Takes Over in the Fourth Quarter as Detroit Beats Boston
Original at 20 Second Timeout
• Thu, Dec 20
By David Friedman The Boston Celtics led for most of the game but when crunch time arrived the Celtics disappeared and the Detroit Pistons won, 87-85. This showdown in Boston between the teams with the two best records in the Eastern Conference was just chapter one in a story that will continue throughout the regular season and very possibly not conclude until the playoffs. Chauncey "Mr. Big Shot" Billups made two game-winning free throws with just .1 second left in regulation and he finished with a game-high 28 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter. He also had a game-high eight assists. His backcourt mate Richard Hamilton scored 21 points on 8-11 field goal shooting. Antonio McDyess (13 points, 10 rebounds) was the only other Piston to reach double figur... [read the full post]

By Matt Watson The second quarter was truly the difference — the two teams were deadlocked with 74 points over the other three frames.
