He's an offensive dynamo, more than Rip Hamilton or anyone else. As we saw for six years, Hamilton is at his best when he has a point guard setting him up. He's not as good on his own.

By By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Ben Gordon scored 23 points and Rodney Stuckey added 20 as the short-handed Detroit Pistons beat Orlando 85-80 on Tuesday night, handing the Magic their first loss of the season.

Rip Hamilton and Ben Gordon combined for 47 points to give new Pistons coach John Kuester a win in his head coaching debut. The Pistons won 96-74 to start the season.

Out with aging frontcourt stalwarts Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess and on to young, offensively gifted budding stars Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva.

WHAT HAPPENED: Rodney Stuckey scored all nine of the Pistons' points over the final 4:21 and finished with 16 as Detroit (4-4) held on to beat Milwaukee (3-5) in the final exhibition game for both teams. Ben Gordon added 15 of his 19 points after halftime.

When the Pistons signed shooting guard Ben Gordon from the Bulls in the offseason, many speculated Hamilton's days in Detroit were numbered.

That fantasy says that today's Pistons can recreate that guard trio magic through the talents of Rodney Stuckey, Richard "Rip" Hamilton, and newly-signed Ben Gordon. Ha! By David Friedman The Chicago announcers claimed that the Bulls played with energy but if that is the case then I'd hate to see what this team looks like when it does not play with energy; the rebounding, turnovers and general lack of aggressiveness (as suggested by the paucity of free throw attempts) all speak to mental and physical lethargy. Ben Wallace did not have a single rebound in the first half and he ended up with two points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Ben Gordon scored eight points on 3-9 shooting.
