Fri, Nov 28 3. Bennie And The Jets: The hits keep on coming!  "Bennie" actually found great success as an R&B song, in addition to hitting #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It's a piano-driven rock send-up, with claps and cheering in the background to simulate the life experience of the fake band Bennie...

First album purchased with my own money at age 9-10--Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in 1973. I believe it was $7.77 or $7.99 since it was a double album. Paid scalper prices ($32 for a $16 ticket) to see him at Pine Knob in 1982. Heck, $32 would barely cover a snack at a concert these days.

Guitar master John Jorgenson is best known these days for sublime acoustic "Hot Club" swing, but he's just as well regarded for his Americana, roots-rock, country and pop work, principally with the Desert Rose Band, Elton John and the Hellecasters.

When I was in college Pat Travers was the man ...  He may not have had the history, or name recognition of an Eric Clapton, but if you listened to FM rock stations, he was a staple.  That said, by the mid-1980s he'd essentially disappeared.  He was still out there, but popular tastes had shifted, le...

Changes" is a piano ballad by Elton John.  Oh wait sorry, this is by Black Sabbath.  Yes it is a piano ballad by the metal gods but it is actually a solid one at that.  The star of this single though is the B-Side "Supernaut", which has one of the sickest riffs of all time.  Stupid Fact; Frank Zappa on...
