By Carsten We got pizza, hung out, and I was ultimatley lucky enough to get a preview of his album. The first official single is entitled ‘Not Lost’. It is produced by J.R. Rotem, features T.I. and is a guaranteed banger. Bob’s manager B. Rich also gave me the heads up that B.o.B. will be featured on one of our favorite artists upcoming lead single. I can’t say who, but I know you won’t be disappointed. The album will be available no later than June, and if what I heard is any indication, expect nothing short of spectacular. Eight Mile also is suing Aftermath Records, which controls the recordings in question, saying it didn’t have the right to make deals on digital downloads. Eight Mile also claims Aftermath wrongfully collected $4 million off Eminem’s songs on iTunes. Eight Mile agreed in 1998 and 2003 that “Eminem would create master sound recordings embodying compositions, and that Aftermath would own those masters,” Apple’s attorneys said in a court filing. It’s unknown if the rapper would attend a trial if there is one. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is not on the witness list.   [read the full post]

Via Vibe VIBE has confirmed that Nas and Kelis are headed for a divorce. “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.” At around 3:45pm PST, high-powered attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Stevie Wonder) filed a divorce petition today on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences. The bombshell comes amid recent reports that the acclaimed rhymer and influential R&B vixen were expecting their first child together—a son. By Carsten Whether it was being helmed as one of the Top 10 Freshmen for 2009 by XXL or The Greenhouse Effect mixtape, Asher was having a tough time fighting off the “Wannabe Eminem” label. I mean, sure, he’s white, and he’s a rapper, so why not right? Well, like Eminem, he’s very skillful and he’s got a bit of an edge on most emcees: he’s dope. With his first release on Universal Motown, Asher Roth’s Asleep in the Bread Aisle may have a title that defines the album a little too accurately: a rapper with a grocery store of selection, yet, settles with the most convenient lane. Even with that said, the potential of this emcee couldn’t be clearer, but there are plenty of elements in AITBA that will frustrate, bore, and impress the listener all at once.   [read the full post]
