<title>Fantastic Four #570 Review</title>

FANTASTIC FOUR #570

Written by Jonathan Hickman

Art by Dale Eaglesham

Verdict - Check It. Not a perfect issue, but a good Fantastic Four issue. More in line with classic interpretations of the team and personalities than the more over the top Millar work.

Marvel: The Lost Generation is recommended for all fans of superhero action on a grand scale. Find it at comics shops, and online retailers and auctions. And for goodness&#8217; sake, if you enjoy it, email or write Marvel and ask them to issue a trade paperback collection. This work deserves it.

While I am not a huge fan of having Reed beat himself up some more for the bad characterizations of past Fantastic Four writers, and I was fine with McDuffie&#8217;s &#8220;Hey, let&#8217;s just sweep it all under the rug and forget it!&#8221; approach, which paved the way for Mark Millar&#8217;s current &#8220;How about we just...

Reed asks She-Hulk to stay behind and to protect the children. Reed then looks at Valeria and tells her that they are going to talk when he gets back. Reed, Sue and Ben then hop into the Fantasti-Car and take off.

We cut back to the Defenders&#8217; headquarters where Johnny is screaming out in pain. Johnny yells for Sue to turn the Galactus engine off. Sue answers that Galactus will be drained and die first, then Dr. Doom and then Johnny last. Sue says that Johnny&#8217;s odds of dying are fifty-to-one. Hulk interrupts and said that the machine has eaten through more energy than expected and that the odds of Johnny dying are ten-to-one.

We zip to Reed Richards back in his lab at the Baxter Building. Hank Pym contacts Reed to find out if Reed is still working on finding Doctor Doom&#8217;s location. Reed replies that he is back to examining the ecological data from Alyssa while he lets his subconscious deal with the Doom situation. (Look at Reed flexing that big brain of his.)

Best of all, Millar delivers a Fantastic Four story that does not require the reader to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Fantastic Four. I would imagine that Fantastic Four would appeal to a large cross section of comic book readers. Even comic book readers who have never liked the Fantastic Four.

Johnny&#8217;s the big brother and Ben&#8217;s the little crazy baby. But in that situation you&#8217;ve got Johnny and Sue &#8212; brother and sister! So there&#8217;s an incest t...

Synopsis: We begin with a battered Doctor Doom demanding that the Thing go get Reed Richards. We see Ms. Deneuve, the woman applying for the nanny position, taking Franklin and Valeria to the panic room. Suddenly, three metahumans appear on the scene and tell the Thing to turn Doctor Doom over to them.

The Thing cannot believe he is doing this, but says that they cannot have Doctor Doom. The Thing begins brawling with the three metahumans. The metahuman that is glowing blasts the Thing so hard that the Thing flies out of the Baxter Building. The Thing crashes through several other buildings and lands on the ground several blocks away.

We cut back to the Baxter Building and see the three metahumans taking Doctor Doom and leaving the scene.

Sue says that someone is trying to kill Black Panther and Storm so they should stay at the Baxter Building where it is nice and secure.

Reed announces that he and Sue are taking some time off and that Black Panther and Storm will be taking their places on the Fantastic Four. This is evidenced by the fact that Thing and Human Torch are now wearing black Fantastic Four outfits to match Black Panther and Storm. (Oooookay.)

The Thing says that Gravity&#8217;s body was stolen by some cosmic entity. The Thing has the coordinates to where the cosmic entity took the body. The Fantastic Four then blast off to that location.
