Baseball's annual winter meetings will be held in Indianapolis in December, but Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez and owner Jeffrey Loria are having their own baseball meeting this week in a slightly more exotic locale - Paris.

Fredi Gonzalez is now unwinding in Georgia - 'just to clear my head' - after a few turbulent days when his Marlins future was unclear.

On the drive back to his Atlanta residence from South Florida on Tuesday, Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez made an intermediate stop in Statesboro, Ga., where the older of his two kids is a freshman at Georgia Southern.

Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez rode his Harley Davidson around scenic Lake Allatoona north of Atlanta on Wednesday. "Just to clear the head a little bit," he said.

Fredi Gonzalez is staying put as manager of the Marlins. But two of his coaches got the boot. Thus ended two days of speculation about Gonzalez and his future with the team.

Turns out Florida Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez performed well enough to keep his job. The same can't be said for pitching coach Mark Wiley and infield coach Andy Fox.
