By noreply@blogger.com (David Friedman) The L.A. Clippers added Baron Davis and Marcus Camby but subtracted Elton Brand, who missed most of last season due to injury. They will obviously improve on last year's win total and could make a run at the last playoff spot if everything breaks right--mainly Davis and Camby staying healthy. The Golden State Warriors' all-offense/little defense style was an entertaining novelty in 2007 and they certainly stunned the Mavericks in that year's playoffs, largely because the Mavericks stubbornly insisted on trying to slow the game down. However, the Warriors fell just short of the playoffs last year and hardly figure to be improved after the departure of Baron Davis and the serious injury suffered by Monta Ellis.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Well, the saga of Monta Ellis' injury is continuing and possibly coming to a close as the Contra Costa Times is reporting that he has come clean about how the injury happened. According to a team source, the Warriors now know that Ellis' ankle injury was not sustained in a workout but it happened outdoors and not while playing basketball. The report says he was scared to tell the truth at first but eventually did after the questions just wouldn't go away because of the inconsistencies that continued to come up. The team can fine and/or suspend Ellis if he injured his ankle by participating in a prohibited activity such as riding a motorcycle. Should he somehow not be able to play again, the Warriors could terminate the six-year, $66 million cont...   [read the full post]

The Warriors are still investigating the injury to Monta Ellis and it seems pretty certain at this point that it happened other than playing basketball. Ellis injured his ankle last Thursday playing pick-up ball in his native Mississippi and had the surgery on Wednesday. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) First, the Clippers signed Baron Davis away from the Warriors. Then, the Warriors signed Corey Maggette away from the Clippers. But the Warriors were not about to let the Clippers get another of their players if they could help it. They have matched the offer that the Clippers made last week to Kelenna Azubuike. The Warriors also signed Ronny Turiaf away from the Lakers, who chose not to match the offer, and they signed their second round draft pick, forward Richard Hendrix. The Warriors then completed a very busy day by re-signing their free agent guard Monta Ellis to a six-year, $67 million contract. Ellis got quite a raise in that as the 40th player selected in the 2005 draft, Ellis was paid just $770,610 last season. He will earn $11 million in 2...   [read the full post]
