By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Should be a great game. There are similarities ... Battier is close to James Posey. If we kept Steve Novak we'd have our Scal. I expect this to be a war and this is a very important game for both teams. Celtics don't want to start 2-2 and the Rockets know they need to show they can beat the champs.

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) It always amazes me how fans from opposing teams can see a game so differently. Celtics fans saw McGrady and Artest being thugs and the Celtics defending themselves, which certainly seemed the case to me. But Rockets fans saw the Celtics as being dirty and the instigators and deserving of the retaliation. I do see my Celtics through green colored lenses and will admit it, but I don't see the Celtics as dirty. Most of the time, they are the ones taking the abuse. Celtics are dirty. Rockets are just standing up for themselves. If the Celtics weren't playing so dirty we wouldn't be going at them. homer hinson never sees the dirty play of the cetlics but just when the Rockets fight back and won't take their dirty play.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Emboldened by the fact that they were getting away with a lot of contact, Tracy McGrady joined Artest by giving Walker a shove as he drove to the basket. You have to love Walker as he doesn't back down from anyone. He stood up to McGrady and had to be held back by Patrick O'Bryant while Pierce held back McGrady. In the midst of the melee, McGrady and Eddie House got into it and were assessed double technicals. After all that contact and the hard hits that the Rockets got away with, Pierce barely touched Artest and he flopped and Pierce was given a technical. Finally, once McGrady and Artest went to the bench, the teams settled into playing basketball.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Ron Artest received a rock star welcome as he arrived in Houston for the next chapter in his NBA story. Music blared and airhorns blasted. A throng of about 500 screaming fans welcomed Artest with enthusiastic cheers. With the addition of Artest, the Rockets have to be considered a threat to win it all. Artest will be playing alongside Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady forming their own Big 3 and they don't come any bigger than Yao. They also have a nice bench and are going to be very, very tough, assuming that Artest doesn't self-destruct as he has in times past. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The Houston Rockets have reportedly reached an agreement with the Sacramento Kings that will land Ron Artest in Houston. After weeks of rumors that the Lakers were close to a deal for Ron Ron, it appears that the Rockets have acquired the troubled and often troublesome player. According to published reports the Rockets will send Bobby Jackson, Donte Greene, a first round pick in the 2009 NBA draft, and cash amounting to around $1 million to the Kings for the storied forward. If Greene is, indeed, involved in the deal then it won't be able to officially take place until August 14th. There are other reports that Joey Dorsey may be included instead of Greene. Rick Adelman had some success with Artest in Sacramento and the Rockets are hoping that he...   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) As reported in the Herald, the Celtics have made an offer to James Posey and hope to keep him. Posey has said that he wants to stay with the Celtics and the Celtics are saying they want to keep him, but there are also other teams who are going to do their best to lure him away from the champs. Posey's hometown Cleveland Cavaliers are said to be putting together an offer, in addition to the Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. New Jersey, which came close to signing Posey last summer before he was talked into going with the Celtics, also may revisit the situation, though like most teams the Nets are carving out cap space for 2010.   [read the full post]

By FLCeltsFan The Celtics take on the Dallas Mavericks tonight in a bid to become the first team to sweep the Texas Triangle since the Kings did it in 2001. The last Celtics team to accomplish this was in 1987. If the Celtics continue to play defense like they did in the first two games, they will have a very good chance of beating the Mavs. Here is footage from the only other Celtics team to sweep the Mavs, Spurs and Rockets. With Cleveland beating the Pistons, the magic number for the Celtics to clinch home court advantage throughout the playoffs is 9. So, any combination of Celtics wins and Pistons losses that add up to 9 will clinch it. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

By FLCeltsFan Here are comments found around the Rockets' boards during their game with the Celtics. The Rockets had an incredible streak and are to be commended for it. There isn't an asterisk on this one either. Yes, the Rockets didn't have Yao but the Celtics didn't have Ray Allen, either. And 10 of those wins were without Yao so it isn't like he just went out. Like the Houston fans, though, I questioned Doc keeping KG on the floor with less than 2 minutes left in the game and up 20+ points. KG is too valuable to the Celtics to risk an injury in garbage time. If the Celtics are in the west I don't think the'd be in the top 5. The record doesn't mean much. By FLCeltsFan The Celtics stopped the Rockets' 22 game win streak in impressive style. The first half was played fairly evenly and the teams were tied at 40 at halftime. But in the third quarter, the Celtics took over and outscored the Rockets 32-16 in the period. The final score was 94-74 and the Celtics are 2-0 so far in the Texas Triangle. The Celtics shot 43% from the field while keeping the Rockets to 41%. The Celtics owned the boards with a 45-35 edge. They also took good care of the ball, only turning the ball over 11 times. They forced the Rockets into 16 turnovers. The officiating was fairly even with a few missed calls on both sides but didn't lean toward one team or the other as The Celtics shot 17 free throws to 18 for the Rockets. It was the Celtics defense that wo...   [read the full post]
