Comic Book Review: Hulk #2

By Rokk Krinn Marvel unveiled another Hulk comic book with the debut of Hulk #1. The little twist about this title is that it deals with an all new red Hulk. The creative team consists of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness. Now, I’m not a big Hulk fan. I haven’t really read the Incredible Hulk since I was probably about 11 or 12. And I was totally unimpressed with World War Hulk. So, the question is why in the world would I give this new Hulk a try? Well, the main reason is because I love Ed McGuinness’ artwork. And I think he is perfectly suited to draw a character like the Hulk. And a minor reason is that I’m just a bit curious to learn more about this red Hulk. [read the full post]

By Brian Cronin CHEERS to Jeph Loeb, for writing one of the strongest issues he’s written in awhile for Hulk #1. CHEERS, too, to Ed McGuinness for a strong first issue, art-wise. The best part of the first issue was definitely McGuinness’ art. It is fun to watch him draw Doc Samson, Iron Man, She-Hulk and some S...

By Rokk Krinn MARVEL COMICS The Marvel comic book that I’m most looking forward to reading has to be Uncanny X-Men #493. The Messiah Complex story arc just keeps getting better and better with each issue. I’m thrilled that Marvel hit a home run on this event. After massive whiffs with House of M, Civil War and World War Hulk, I was beginning to think that Marvel just couldn’t put together a quality big event. Well, they certainly have done so with Messiah Complex. Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? Wow, for a second week straight, I’d have to say none. Of course, with only three issues headed my way from the House of Ideas, it isn’t like I have a large selection to choose from. [read the full post]

By The Fortress Keeper From now on, we'll attempt to focus on what we love about super-heroes and comics in general rather than rail endlessly about the mistreatment of beloved characters. Hey, comic book professionals state that no publicity is bad publicity when it comes to storylines.

By Rokk Krinn We cut to Tony in his penthouse at Stark Tower. Suddenly, captain America appears before him. Captain America attacks Tony. Tony says that Steve is dead and he can’t be real. Captain America takes off his mask and says he is a figment of Tony’s imagination. Captain America then says “The writing is Malukkian.” It was cool seeing a couple of Initiative heroes at work. We see a news report mentioning how there are increasing issues and protests over the quality of the government training for the super heroes operating under the Initiative. And that there have been numerous deaths. I guess this is the approach that Marvel is going to take to show the deficiencies of the Initiative in order to lead to the repealing of the SHRA. By Rokk Krinn Dugan says that it wasn’t Fury who tricked the Hulk. That it was a Life Model Decoy. Hulk says he is going to go ask Tony Stark if that is true. Hulk says if it is a lie then he will come back and destroy the Helicarrier. We cut to Dugan meeting with Lindsay and Clay Quartermain. Both men had served with Ross’ Hulkbusters. Lindsay counsels conceding Manhattan to the Hulk and letting him get his revenge on the few people he wants to and then maybe the Hulk will leave. Quartermain argues that they shouldn’t sacrifice Manhattan and that the Hulk won’t leave after he gets his revenge. Quartermain says that they need to attack the Hulk now. Dugan agrees with Quartermain and tells him to get an inventory of all the weapons they have that could cause damage to the Hul... [read the full post]
