By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) We cut to Toby coming home and going straight to his bedroom to read his comic books. Toby thinks how his mother always told him that comic books would rot his brain. That two years ago his mother ripped up every comic book he had. (I had something similar to that happen to me when I was a kid. Parents just don’t understand.) Toby thinks how maybe comics are rotting his brain and that his mother had his best interests in mind. I dig that Millar visits the age old debate about if comic books rot your brain or not. I chuckled as Toby begins to wonder if his mother was actually right that comic books were bad for him. I am sure that many comic book readers probably have a story about when their parents tore up their comics or simply preached how comics were bad for the...   [read the full post]

We have 15 titles headed to the Bunker. This week’s shipment of comic books is still Marvel heavy. And there are a lot more quality titles headed our way from Marvel than what we are getting from DC this week. However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Captain America #38. Brubaker dropped a huge bomb on the reader as we see a character who appears to be the Grand Director who was the 1950’s Captain America. I cannot wait to see what Brubaker has in store for us with this issue.   [read the full post]

By Rokk Krinn We cut to the video being turned on. We see General Ross and Doc Samson in Banner’s cell. Ross and Samson tell Banner about the second Hulk. Ross says that Banner needs to help them answer why this new Hulk would kill Abomination, what is with the radiation emitted by the second Hulk and why does he use a gun. I have to admit that I am digging both the red Hulk and the new Abomination. Loeb teases the reader with some interesting tidbits about the red Hulk. We learn from Banner that the red Hulk is emanating radiation because he has been exposed to gamma radiation before. Also we learn that whoever is the red Hulk also has security clearance at the Gamma base. This immediately makes Doc Samson the number one suspect as the new red Hulk. That also goes along with...   [read the full post]

By Rokk Krinn Marvel unveiled another Hulk comic book with the debut of Hulk #1. The little twist about this title is that it deals with an all new red Hulk. The creative team consists of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness. Now, I’m not a big Hulk fan. I haven’t really read the Incredible Hulk since I was probably about 11 or 12. And I was totally unimpressed with World War Hulk. So, the question is why in the world would I give this new Hulk a try? Well, the main reason is because I love Ed McGuinness’ artwork. And I think he is perfectly suited to draw a character like the Hulk. And a minor reason is that I’m just a bit curious to learn more about this red Hulk.   [read the full post]

The Messiah Complex story arc just keeps getting better and better with each issue. I’m thrilled that Marvel hit a home run on this event. After massive whiffs with House of M, Civil War and World War Hulk, I was beginning to think that Marvel just couldn’t put together a quality big event. Well, they certainly have done so with Messiah Complex. Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? Wow, for a second week straight, I’d have to say none. Of course, with only three issues headed my way from the House of Ideas, it isn’t like I have a large selection to choose from.   [read the full post]

Captain America takes off his mask and says he is a figment of Tony’s imagination. Captain America then says “The writing is Malukkian.” It was cool seeing a couple of Initiative heroes at work. We see a news report mentioning how there are increasing issues and protests over the quality of the government training for the super heroes operating under the Initiative. And that there have been numerous deaths. I guess this is the approach that Marvel is going to take to show the deficiencies of the Initiative in order to lead to the repealing of the SHRA.   [read the full post]

Lindsay counsels conceding Manhattan to the Hulk and letting him get his revenge on the few people he wants to and then maybe the Hulk will leave. Quartermain argues that they shouldn’t sacrifice Manhattan and that the Hulk won’t leave after he gets his revenge. Quartermain says that they need to attack the Hulk now.
