By Kevin(legacysword@gmail.com) Though I have largely ignored Dark Reign unless it pops into Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil, or Captain America I have actually been digging these The List one-shots. Other than the horrible Dark Reign: The List – Avengers these one-shots have been all very good, at least the ones I have read. They have all done a nice job setting up what is going to go on in Siege as well as those respective titles. Slott did a great job capturing the Spider-Man/Norman dynamic. Even though with his new status quo Norman has faced the biggest heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe he still considers Spider-Man his greatest adversary. Even though other superheroes like Tony Stark, Hank Pym, and Reed Richards can pose a bigger threat to his current reign, Spid... [read the full post]

The Super Hero Squad Show: Episodes 1 and 2

By Rokk Krinn(LaRevolucion44@aol.com) The main roster for the Super Hero Squad consists of Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine and the Falcon. This show also stars Ms. Marvel who is the head of SHIELD. In addition to the core cast there are also going to be tons of cameo appearances from other characters in the Marvel Universe. I did like how the Hulk and Wolverine get into a clash near the beginning of this episode. This was a nice nod to their comic book past. Captain America was just fantastic. I love how incredibly cheesy and over the top the creators make Captain America’s character. Captain America has several great lines. In one scene the Squaddies phone ring and Cap comments that if it is President Roosevelt on the phone then he is not here. [read the full post]

Comic Book Review: Invincible Iron Man #17
Original at Rokk's Comic Book Revolution

By Kevin(legacysword@gmail.com) We cut back to Dmitri in his office pouring himself a drink and wishing Tony luck. We cut to Tony flying towards Stark Lab. As Tony is flying, he is shot down by a couple of men who noticed something flying in the air. Tony is lands on the ground below with the armor damaged by the fall. Tony takes of the armor and sits in front of it trying to recover. In the Helicarrier armory some HAMMER agents store Pepper's armor in the same location as the rest of the Iron Man armor. End of issue. And while I like having Bucky appearing as Captain America in other Marvel titles, his appearance in this story actually hurts the story that Fraction has been building. Because, instead of allowing Tony to be the hero his own story, it seems that it will actually be Bucky. [read the full post]

Comic Book Review: Flash: Rebirth #1
Original at Rokk's Comic Book Revolution
• Fri, Apr 3
By LaRevolucion44@aol.com (Rokk Krinn) Readers know that Spider-Man is Peter Parker. Iron Man is Tony Stark. Captain America is Steve Rogers. (We all know that Bucky as Cap is temporary just like DC's replacing Wayne as Batman.) Daredevil is Matt Murdock. Wolverine is Logan. The Hulk is Bruce Banner. And it goes on and on. Readers do not have to worry about picking up an issue of Spider-Man and wonder who the hell is Spider-Man now or how many different Spider-Men have we gotten over the years. Also, by not constantly switching the identities of their characters, Marvel is able to create a better brand name with the public that is more marketable. DC needs to have their iconic characters firmly in place so they can do what Marvel is currently doing with their iconic characters. [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) We cut to the SHIELD Helicarrier where Iron Man has just found out that Captain America is back. Iron Man stands in front of several monitors replaying the fight between the Invaders and the Thunderbolts. Tony quietly says “Steve.” End of issue. I enjoyed how Krueger handled Tony’s reaction to seeing Captain America alive and well once again. Despite what some writers have done with Tony Stark since Civil War, the fact is that Tony and Steve were extremely close friends. And there are few characters that miss Steve more than Tony does. I am curious to see how Tony reacts to coming face to face with his deceased friend. [read the full post]

Comic Book Commentary: Iron Fist
Original at Rokk's Comic Book Revolution
• Wed, Apr 9
By Rokk Krinn The depressing news is that Brubaker, Fraction and Aja are all leaving the title together. This is a crushing blow to The Immortal Iron Fist and one that the title may not be able to recover from. I would much rather have Brubaker stay on Iron Fist and drop writing Uncanny X-Men. Brubaker’s Uncanny X-Men is by far the weakest read out of all of the comic books that Brubaker pens. Captain America, Daredevil, The Immortal Iron Fist and Criminal all suite Brubaker’s style and writing talent much more than Uncanny X-Men. Hell, even if Brubaker has to leave, I’d rather Marvel keep Fraction on this title than place him on an unnecessary second Iron Man title that appears poised to give us a rather unoriginal story. Again, The Immortal Iron Fist is a title t... [read the full post]
Comic Book Review: Captain America #33
Original at Rokk's Comic Book Revolution
• Thu, Jan 10
By Rokk Krinn Captain America continues to be one of the best reads on the market from either Marvel or DC. Brubaker’s work on this title has been simply stunning. Captain America #33 promises to be a huge issue as we finally get to see the long awaited showdown between Tony Stark and the Winter Soldier. Let’s go ahead and hit this review. Tony armors up and begins searching for Bucky. Suddenly, Bucky attacks Iron Man. Bucky tries using an EMP via his metal arm to knock out Iron Man. Iron Man is too crafty to be suckered by that move and temporary powers down and then powers back up after the EMP blast is over. You knew that it had to end in a draw. It simply isn’t realistic that Bucky could defeat a character as powerful as Iron Man. And Brubaker isn’t going to let Iron Man punk... [read the full post]

Immortal Iron Fist #11 is sure to be an entertaining read. Brubaker and Fraction have done a superb job on this title. Iron Fist is certainly one of Marvel’s better reads and I love how Brubaker and Fraction have managed to freshen up a dated C-list character like Iron Fist. Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Wolverine Origins #20. Daniel Way continues to bore me with his run on this title. Captain America takes off his mask and says he is a figment of Tony’s imagination. Captain America then says “The writing is Malukkian.” Iron Man then arrives at the hospital where Paragon is located. There Iron Man meets up with Captain Ultra who is responsible for the Nebraska team. Ultra tells Iron Man that he heard Gadget was Tony’s protégé. Iron Man responds that he didn’t know her. That a million gifted kids who cobbled together armor in their garages sent him letters and considered them his protégés. Tony remembers getting letter from Gadget when she was a little kid.
