Creative Team Writer: Jon Favreau Artist: Adi Granov I love Favreau’s handling of Tony’s character. Marvel should replace Fraction with Favreau over on Invincible Iron Man. I know that Favreau could never handle the requirements of a monthly title due to his career, but, c’mon, Favreau simply gets Tony’s character better than Fraction does. Also, it would mean that Fraction could stay on Iron Fist. Fraction has been money on Iron Fist. Favreau’s Tony Stark is like a breath of fresh air from the colorless and dour Tony Stark that we have gotten since Civil War. Favreau’s Tony Stark is a delightful blast from the past.

We cut back to the Helicarrier where Tony mentions his second nightmare. It is when the Iron Man armor becomes cheap and easily replicable. Because as it stands, there are two armors: Tony’s hi-tech Extremis armor and Rhodey’s War Machine armor which isn’t as good as Tony’s armor. Another mild irritant that newer readers probably won’t pick up or even care about is Fraction continually having Tony refer to his armor as “The Iron Man.” I have never heard Tony refer to his suit of armor as “The Iron Man.” Tony always gave his armors technical names like Model XV, Mark I or Mark II. Or Tony would give them catchy casual names like “Stealth Armor,” “Hulkbuster Armor” or “War Machine Armor.” I have always viewed Tony’s current armor as his Extremis Armor....

Ultimate Human #2 Marvel Comics Ellis, Nord & Stewart We begin with the dust up that began in the previous issue. Tony is getting chased throughout the facility by the grey Hulk. This whole sequence uses humor, with Tony on his cell phone barking out orders, versus the madness of the Hulk. Finally, Tony jumps in his suit and the battle begins, but with a twist: Tony’s suit doesn’t have any armaments. Hulk smashes Iron Man into the ground. Iron Man lights Hulk’s hair on fire. Iron Man eventually gets the better of Hulk and shoots an electroshock into his eye. This gets the Hulk to revert back to Bruce Banner.

We cut to Tony in his penthouse at Stark Tower. Suddenly, captain America appears before him. Captain America attacks Tony. Tony says that Steve is dead and he can’t be real. Captain America takes off his mask and says he is a figment of Tony’s imagination. Captain America then says “The writing is Malukkian.” Tony wakes up and goes to his computer and look at footage of the writing on the wall at the Chinese facility where the Mandarin was being kept. We zip forward to the morning with Tony meeting with Secretary of Defense Jack Kooning. Tony says that only the Mandarin can decipher Malukkian script. That a month after the Mandarin went missing a John Doe was admitted to the Chinese mental facility. The John Doe had no hands.
