On June 2nd Nature Sounds will be releasing Jay Stay Paid. J$P is a 25 track collection of unreleased (some have leaked) Dilla beats mixed and arranged by Pete Rock. The project is mostly instrumental, but includes vocals from Black Thought, DOOM, Raekwon, Illa J, Blu, Havoc, M.O.P. and more. This isn’t some haphazardly put together album. Ms. Yancey AKA “Ma Dukes” serves as the executive producer to keep her sons vision in mind. Says Ma Dukes: “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. Its mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.” Believe me when I tell you, the beats that I’ve heard on this album are out of this world. So to not keep you in the dark, here’s the first leak off J$P, “Reality Check,” with none other than Black Thought on the vocals.
