"Out Here in the Fields" Harvey Keitel is the weak link in an otherwise strong ensemble (with Jason O'Mara blowing everyone else off the screen). By Kate Why you should watch Life on Mars November 15th, 2008 By Kate Blake, ADMIN Multipleverses Life on Mars is moving to Wednesday nights this winter- and if you are not watching you should check it out! I loved the original BBC series and I have to admit I am eager each week to see what will happen next as this quirky cop drama set in the 1970s plays out on TV. One of the reasons I really like The Mentalist and Life are that those series are police dramas that rely on intuition more than DNA and sophisticated evidence. Life on Mars takes this even further as Sam Tyler a modern detective is thrust back to the past and this modern detective has to rely on intuition, memory of the past, and his true ability to use logic and tie disparate clues together to solve cr... By KP(KP@TheTwoCents.com) Am I time traveller? Am I in a coma? Am I a lunatic? These are the minor questions that plaque Sam Tyler (Jason O'Mara) formerly a NYC police detective in 2008 and now a NYC police detective in 1973. One day Sam is hit by a car and wakes up in Mars...I mean in the 1973. Fortunately, David Bowie is around both times to cushion the blow. Sam, well, Sam proceeds to completely wig out. He starts ranting about his desk and his office until he gets the attention of the head detective: Gene Hunt (Harvey Keitel). Gene, with a punch to the stomach, lets Sam know who's boss. When Sam starts hearing voices from what seems to be 2008, he starts screaming, which prompts Ray (Michael Imperioli) to send Sam to be checked out by Annie (Gretchen Mol). [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Paul Levinson) Fine start of Life on Mars on ABC tonight, and you know that I'm going to review this American version of the British series here on Infinite Regress, since I watch everything I can get my hands on regarding time travel, including Journeyman, relevant episodes of Lost and Heroes, and Deja Vu, too. But unlike Journeyman and Quantum Leap, Life on Mars will be one continuing, over-arching story, with Sam from 2008 back in 1973. I'm glad to see this, since I thought both Journeyman and Quantum Leap gave too much attention to specific episode story lines, and not enough to the backbone of the plot (Journeyman improved greatly in this respect near the end).
