Rate News from Mike: New LP and LPU9

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Sat, Oct 17

By JEN(noreply@blogger.com) Secondly, another newsworthy thing: as it turns out, our LP Underground fan club is going to be friggin' amazing this year! In case you don't know, we always put out a CD with the club, and this year's CD is a monster. It contains 8 previously unreleased demos from Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes To Midnight, plus a NEW, UNRELEASED LINKIN PARK SONG recorded during the MTM sessions. That's 9 tracks in all (for LPU9, get it?). You also get a shirt, patch, guitar pick, and exclusive chances to meet the band if we're doing a show or event in your area. LPU9 is not available yet, but info will be coming soon. You can get an idea of what this past year's fan club offered by clicking here.   [read the full post]

Rate Linkin Park Video game

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Fri, Sep 25

By Tensh_iie(noreply@blogger.com) As announced earlier this year (http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20090421005647&newsLang=en), we're putting together a video game for the iPhone and iPod touch. So far, it has been a lot of fun...although we don't have a release date to announce yet, I thought I'd share a few of my concept drawings with you guys. I know it's a terrible picture, ha! We've been brainstorming ways to make story, combat, puzzles, music-based challenges, and RPG elements all fit within a community in the game. There are also some really funny things going on in the game that I know a lot of LP fans will recognize. Stay tuned for more info...   [read the full post]

By JEN(noreply@blogger.com) Mike Shinoda donated over 140 signed, hand vandalized poster-prints from his Glorious Excess (Dies) art exhibition to Music for Relief. The poster-prints will be given away to over 140 winners of a global online raffle! One grand prize winner will also win an expense paid trip to see Linkin Park in concert in 2010 and a meet and greet with band members as well as a DC Shoes prize pack. Rate New Interview with Mike

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Fri, May 29

By Tensh_iie(noreply@blogger.com) Mike Shinoda will be opening his second solo exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum on August 29th, entitled "Glorious Excess (Dies)." If the success of his first solo at that Museum is any indication we are all in for quite a treat. Shinoda was gracious enough to take a few moments out of his busy schedule to talk about his upcoming show, his music career and the exciting things which lay ahead for this gifted artist. MS: We have a new Linkin Park album in the works for next year, and I'm already working on my next art show. I 'd like to do my next show in New York; I'm looking for the right gallery space right now. After that, who knows? I just look for the next thing that seems exciting. Rate Mike's Top Ten Song of 2008

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Wed, Jan 7

By Rashell(noreply@blogger.com) The Linkin Park MC-Producer shares his top nine from '08 and his old fave. 1. "Dr. Carter," Lil Wayne “I had to limit myself to songs from this year—otherwise, it’s just too hard to narrow down. Lil Wayne is killing it right now, but this song proved to me that he isn’t just the hot rapper of the moment. The concept is genius, and the rhymes are just ridiculous.” 5. "Cyanide," Metallica “An absolute monster. Welcome back, guys—we missed you.” 6. "Waiting Room," Fugazi “This song came out in 1989—an all-time favorite from the first band I fell in love with. Literally everything about it is great. Just download it, trust me.”   [read the full post]

Rate Linkin Park.: “We Have a Ton of Material”

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Fri, Nov 7

By Jen(noreply@blogger.com) 2KnowMusic: Mike Shinoda will always make time for important business. Linkin Park’s rapper-songwriter-producer has already been sketching out new songs with the band, and last week they began recording the follow-up to the multiplatinum Minutes to Midnight in Los Angeles. “I didn’t stop writing since the last record,” says Shinoda. “They’ve seen the stuff on my hard drives. I’ve got a lot of material, and I know the other guys have a good amount of stuff too. It’s going to be fun.” Rob Bourdon: I think a lot of the lyrics on Minutes to Midnight are really thought provoking, and when you listen to a song like “Hands Held High,” you can’t help but start thinking. It’s good to encourage people to think for themselves and look at what’s going on aroun...   [read the full post]

Rate Linkin Park Thinking Conceptual For Next Album

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Tue, Oct 28

By Jen(noreply@blogger.com) Billboard: Linkin Park is planning what singer Chester Bennington calls "a concept record" for its fourth album, which the group will start recording in early November and be ensconced in making by the time its new live album, "Road to Revolution," rolls out Nov. 25. Linkin Park's "Road to Revolution," meanwhile, is an 18-track CD/DVD package recorded at a June concert in England. Jay-Z appears on two tracks ("Jigga What/Faint" and "Numb/Encore"); the set also includes Linkin Park's current single, "Leave Out All the Rest," which has been adapted for an episode of CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" that will air on Nov. 6.   [read the full post]

By Rashell(noreply@blogger.com) POSTED ASH_QWERTY, HOW TO: ARTIST ROYALTIES, INDIE V. MAJOR We can hardly judge Warner for what they're doing though can we? I mean, we've all downloaded some LP music off random sites without paying haven't we (sorry Mike)? Although i know download all my non-cd tracks off 7digital.com- honest :-). But Mike & LP even support this- they're that kind of band. Still, screw Warner :-). Everyone on the LPU Forums hates them anyway! M: No, the leftover live songs won't be the new LPU CD. We heard your comments about the last LPU CD needing to have more unique material, so we're trying to do that. I think this year's LPU CD will be one of the best ever. At the very least, it'll be the most unique. Here's what it won't be: live tracks, new unreleased Linkin Par...   [read the full post]

Rate Blog 163: Projekt Revolution Boston

Original at Mike Shinoda Online external link    Wed, Jul 23

By Rashell(noreply@blogger.com) LINKIN PARK PROJEKTS IMAGE OF SUCCESS It takes titanic theatrics to wow a crowd before the sun goes down, and Busta Rhymes’ set was adequately animated. Ex-Soundgarden and Audioslave front man Chris Cornell followed with a strong hour of old and new material, from “Black Hole Sun” to songs off his upcoming third solo disc. Cornell’s cool Euro look and hard, angelic vocals still get girls gushing and guys envying - especially when Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington joined him for Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike.” Linkin Park, with Busta Rhymes, Chris Cornell, The Bravery and others. At the Comcast Center, Mansfield, last night."   [read the full post]
