By Steve Perrin Assuming MDsr sticks with the same starting five, Camby will be on Randolph to start. But as of right now, Corey Maggette is the Warriors back up power forward, and it's hard to imagine Camby (or Craig Smith for that matter) defending Maggette. So look for Griffin to get that assignment, or...

By Brett Edwards Up north where the Golden State Warriors play, it won't be pretty either, at least for the first few months of the season. That's because their best player (apologies, Mr. Maggette) decided to engage in low-speed moped riding during the off-season (this still amazes me ... the moped = injury pa...

By ClipperSteve Of course, the changes this summer went way beyond the departure of Elton Brand and the arrival of Baron Davis. Gone from the Clippers' 2006 playoff team are Brand, Corey Maggette, Shaun Livingston, Sam Cassell and Quinton Ross. There have been lots of references to 'Baron for Brand' or '...

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) First, the Clippers signed Baron Davis away from the Warriors. Then, the Warriors signed Corey Maggette away from the Clippers. But the Warriors were not about to let the Clippers get another of their players if they could help it. They have matched the offer that the Clippers made last week to Kelenna Azubuike. The Warriors also signed Ronny Turiaf away from the Lakers, who chose not to match the offer, and they signed their second round draft pick, forward Richard Hendrix. The Warriors then completed a very busy day by re-signing their free agent guard Monta Ellis to a six-year, $67 million contract. Ellis got quite a raise in that as the 40th player selected in the 2005 draft, Ellis was paid just $770,610 last season. He will earn $11 million in 2... [read the full post]

By ClipperSteve I'll reflect on the bigger picture (Davis and Camby versus Brand and Maggette, 05-06 Clippers versus 08-09 Clippers, etc.) at a later time. For now, yes, I love his trade. Let me also add that when deals like this happen, where a team gives up a player for almost literally nothing strictly fo...

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) More on the Corey Maggette saga. Now, the Detroit Pistons are offering him their full MLE. So, to recap, the Warriors, Spurs, Sixers, Jazz, Magic, and now the Pistons are bidding for his services. He opted out of $7 million dollars from the Clippers and has said that he would take less if it meant going to a contender. Previously, he had narrowed his choices down to the Spurs or the Celtics but now with the Pistons bidding as well, he has a lot of choices. The Globe reported that Doc called him and since he and Doc go way back and are good friends, that may give the Celtics some leverage. He said that he feels very comfortable with Doc and with everything else equal, that could be the difference. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!] [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) First, the Globe said that the Celtics made an offer to both Posey and Maggette on the first day of free agency. The Celtics have made contract offers to two forwards: Their own free agent, James Posey, and Clippers free agent Corey Maggette, sources told the Boston Globe. The most the Celtics could offer is the mid-level exception (about $5.8 million), and it's doubtful that they could sign both players. The terms of the offers were not disclosed. OK, so Danny didn't make an offer to Maggette. But then, in today's Globe there is this: A day after talking with Celtics coach Doc Rivers, a longtime family friend, Clippers free agent forward Corey Maggette said he is seriously considering an offer to join the NBA champions. Baron Davis Leaves the Warriors for the Clippers--And Both Teams Are Happy
Original at 20 Second Timeout
• Wed, Jul 2
By David Friedman(noreply@blogger.com) Does that mean that the Clippers are wrong to sign Davis? No, not at all. The Clippers desperately need a top notch point guard, whether or not Shaun Livingston completely recovers from his devastating injury. It appears that they will renounce their rights to Corey Maggette and then re-sign power forward Elton Brand. Assuming that Brand and Davis stay healthy, the Clippers now have an All-Star caliber low post scoring threat and an All-Star caliber point guard. Their potential starting lineup of Chris Kaman, Brand, second year forward Al Thornton--a beast in training--Davis and Cuttino Mobley is quite potent. The main questions for the Clippers are their health, their dedication at the defensive end of the court and the lack of depth on... [read the full post]
If Baron Davis and the Warriors could do it all over again… would they?

By Tim Kawakami That left Baron with a lot of long-term money, but without Brand, with a coach in Mike Dunleavy Sr. that doesn’t seem to fit his wild-card ways, without Maggette as the fallback, and, very importantly, with a chance to look very bad if the Clippers just keep on being the Clippers with Baron.

The Orange County Register is reporting that Corey Maggette will indeed opt out this summer and test free agency. Why not? He is one of the most underpaid players in the NBA.
