So, to recap, the Warriors, Spurs, Sixers, Jazz, Magic, and now the Pistons are bidding for his services. He opted out of $7 million dollars from the Clippers and has said that he would take less if it meant going to a contender. Previously, he had narrowed his choices down to the Spurs or the Celtics but now with the Pistons bidding as well, he has a lot of choices. The Globe reported that Doc called him and since he and Doc go way back and are good friends, that may give the Celtics some leverage. The Celtics have made contract offers to two forwards: Their own free agent, James Posey, and Clippers free agent Corey Maggette, sources told the Boston Globe. The most the Celtics could offer is the mid-level exception (about $5.8 million), and it's doubtful that they could sign both players. The terms of the offers were not disclosed. The Clippers desperately need a top notch point guard, whether or not Shaun Livingston completely recovers from his devastating injury. It appears that they will renounce their rights to Corey Maggette and then re-sign power forward Elton Brand. Assuming that Brand and Davis stay healthy, the Clippers now have an All-Star caliber low post scoring threat and an All-Star caliber point guard.
