Madonna celebrates UK number one

bbc news Madonna's third greatest hits album, Celebration, has topped the UK album chart in its first week of release. Collecting together hits like Hung Up and Like A Virgin, the retrospective marks the end of the star's 27-year relationship with record label Warners. The singer signed a $120m (£75m) deal with Live Nation in 2007. Celebration is her 11th number one in the UK. Since then, seven different records have made an appearance at number one, with the Black Eyed Peas' Boom Boom Pow claiming the crown on two separate occasions. Cruz's Break Your Heart ends that run, giving the London-born singer the biggest hit of his career to date. Last week's number one, Muse's The Resistance, drops to number two.
