Material mom gets teary-eyed at her son's old orphanage

Madonna has been anointed an even loftier title – God.

You are our God," a young child at one of six Madonna-fundedMalawi orphanages told the reportedly "bemused" pop star on Tuesday, according to Usmagazine.com.

Where could we have been without you?" the orphan asked.

The 51-year-old singer has been touring the AIDS ravished country since Sunday. Earlier this week, she marked the groundbreaking of a new girl's school funded by her charity by planting a tree.

Madonna has adopted two of her four children – David and Mercy – from the impoverished southern African nation. On Tuesday, she reportedly wept after seeing her 4-year-old's former crib at his old orphanage.

It was an emotional moment," Lucy Chipeta, the director of theHome Child Care Center, told Us.

Next on Madonna's itinerary: a meeting with Malawi's president and Mercy's biological father.
