What Is A-Rod’s Favorite Madonna Song? external link

Rate  Fri, Mar 20

During his recent Details interview, Alex Rodriguez apparently told article author Jason Gay about his favorite Madonna song, but later pleaded with Gay not to print the song in the magazine (also, if anyone can think of a joke about Alex Rodriguez being interviewed by a dude named “Gay” for Details Magazine, please let me know). Gay recounts It’s not even a very good Madonna song. I can’t tell you which song it was. I have my word and I have to honor that. But he wanted to make sure that I didn’t mention it in the article. He was concerned that visiting ballparks would play the song when he came to bat.”

It’s a late 21st century song, it’s safe to say.

THE CLUES:

1) Not a very good song

2) A-Rod likes it but doesn’t want it played at opposing stadiums (he used to come to bat to “This Is Why I’m Hot,” so I’m not sure what song would really embarrass him)

3) Came out in the late 21st century (does he mean the late 20th century, the most recent part of the 21st century, or a future song from the 2090s?)

After the jump, our guesses for A-Rod’s favorite Madonna song - leave your own in the comments!

“Beautiful Stranger” - From the Austin Powers 2 soundtrack; came out in 1999, largely forgettable after doing decently on the charts, and wouldn’t be ‘embarrassing’ to hear when coming to bat so much as just ‘boring for everyone’. Perhaps A-Rod doesn’t want to admit that he has the same “Madonna sticking her ass in your face” fantasies from that music video.

“Music” - Everyone’s had it stuck in their head many times, and no one would want to come to bat thinking about it, but it’s also not a “bad” song and wouldn’t be entirely out of place in a stadium setting. Maybe A-Rod was embarrassed that he slept with Madonna for a few months but his ‘favorite’ song of hers was something that even a super-casual fan could name? Plus I’m sure she’s banged a couple of the cowboys in that video, and that probably bugs Alex.

“4 Minutes” - Again, not a “bad” song, but it’s late (first-decade-of) 21st century and contains endless jealousy potential with J.T. and Timbaland in the video, plus we can only speculate as to whether or not “4 minutes” was an embarrassing bedroom inside joke between them.

“Me Against The Music” - Britney featuring Madonna, which makes sense; Alex wanted to spite his ex by saying his favorite song of hers wasn’t even her song, but then he got a drunk text from her in between the interview and its printing and realized he didn’t want to burn that bridge just yet. The stadium excuse was cover.

More from Madonnasworld.com:

“Robot Space Love” - Future hit in 2093 when a Madonna hologram is forced to record a propaganda anthem for New Earth’s robot overlords. No word on whether or not A-Rod will be alive to enjoy this song, but it is late 21st century, and inevitable. But it’s also not bad.
