Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat's Hard Knock Life
Original at 20 Second Timeout
• Fri, Feb 29
By David Friedman The Lakers beat the Heat 106-88 on Thursday but the game was such a mismatch that it almost is not even worth analyzing; the Lakers jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the first 6:16 and basically toyed with the Heat the rest of the way. You hear a lot of talk about executives and coaches who are doing bad jobs and players who are overrated but what is the deal with Miami? There is no way that this team should be this bad with a Hall of Fame caliber coach in Pat Riley plus Dwyane Wade playing alongside first Shaquille O'Neal and now Shawn Marion. Udonis Haslem and Jason Williams were starters on the 2006 championship team. Ricky Davis is a space cadet but he is also a bona fide scorer. There is some decent talent on the bench. Something very strange is going on with t... [read the full post]
Cavs Show Signs of Life, Cool off Heat

By David Friedman The Heat struck quickly in the third quarter, scoring on a Ricky Davis fast break layup and an O'Neal postup to push the lead to 51-43, prompting a quick Cleveland timeout. James missed a jumper on the next possession and a Udonis Haslem layup put the Heat up 53-43. Just when it looked like the Heat had completely taken control of the game, the Cavaliers tightened up their defense, forced some turnovers and went on a 9-2 run in the next 2:21. Miami answered with a couple baskets to go up 59-52 but then the Cavaliers scored 15 straight points, feasting on a host of Heat turnovers (11 total in the third quarter). [read the full post]

By FLCeltsFan The officiating left a lot to be desired in this game. The worst call of the game was when the Heat had drawn to within 7 and Ray Allen had the ball and was literally tackled by Udonis Haslem and had another player hanging on his ankle. In spite of both players still hanging on Ray, they called a jump ball instead of a foul. The Celtics were lucky to escape this one with a win and it was a good thing they had built that big lead or they might not have won it. The Celtics out rebounded the Heat 40-39. They shot only 40% while allowing the Heat to shoot 46%. The Celtics had 15 steals in the game. They had 17 turnovers, which is too many, but forced the Heat into 24 turnovers. The passing wasn't there at the end of the game and the Celtics finished with 17 assists on 29 FG att... [read the full post]

By FLCeltsFan Probable Starting Matchups PG: Rajon Rondo vs Jason Williams SG: Ray Allen vs Dwayne Wade SF: Paul Pierce vs Penny Hardaway PF: Kevin Garnett vs Udonis Haslem C: Kendrick Perkins vs Shaquille O'Neal These are the probable matchups although Pat Riley has threatened to shake up the team by changing his lineups and he may put a totally unorthodox starting lineup on the floor to send a message. Imagine him benching Shaq and starting Blount. Key Off the Bench James Posey will want to have a good game against his former team. Tony had his best game yet against the Nets and look for his confidence to continue to grow as he works his way back from the injury. [read the full post]
