Wanderlei Silva Sides With Shogun And Calls For MMA Judging Reform
Original at The MMA News
• Mon, Oct 26
By Chart Topper In an interview with Fighters Only magazine “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva is quick to side with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua as the victor on Saturday’s UFC 104 event. The five-round unanimous decision victory, one that has stirred a lot of controversy within the MMA community, was awarded to the current UFC champion Lyoto Machida. Silva also calls for a change in the way mixed martial arts bouts are judged. The Brazilian used his recent unanimous decision loss to Rich Franklin at UFC 99 as an example of poor judging, a fight he thought he had won. Silva believes the current system - with many judges not coming from an MMA background - needs reforming for the sake of the sport and the sake of the fighters. [read the full post]
