Rate Perk Beasts as Celtics Beat Nets 83-66

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The Celtics are still turning the ball over way too much. They had 29 turnovers last night compared to 12 for the Nets. They simply have to take better care of the ball. They could still beat a Carterless Nets team with 29 turnovers, but don't expect the better teams in the league to let them get away with it. One area the Celtics improved in last night was in the rebounding. So far in the preseason, they have been beaten on the boards pretty seriously. Last night however, they out rebounded the Nets 56-29. They need to continue to crash the boards if they want to repeat. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Nets should strike back!...They mustn't let that they are defeated by Boston's bench. VC will sit out. Boone and Swift won't be playing either, so expect lot of playing time for CDR, Brook, SWAT and Anderson. Boston's Big Three should be playing. I expect that is payback for the Celtics not playing their starters in NJ. Why are we playing the Celtics again? I don't want to show off any of the fine points of our intricate offense? We needed Vince tonight. He can take Ray Allen any time he wants and that would have made it a lot closer. Man outrebounded 56-29 & 14 offensive by Celtics..is that right ?!?..lot of bigs...no one boxing out ? C'mon. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The Celtics bench basically beat the Nets' starters 111-108. The Pierce, KG and Ray all sat last night. Well, they sat after the Celtics finally scored a field goal, which wasn't until Giddens finally scored with 6:49 left in the first and the Celtics down 13-1. New York Knicks (1-1) at Boston Celtics (4-1) Friday, October 17 7:30 PM TV: CSN Radio: WEEI TD Banknorth Garden For the third season in a row, the Celtics and Knicks will face each other in a home and home series in the preseason. By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) My favorite comment was the one about the Celtics disprespecting them by playing Scal 24 points. The Celtics' bench already being disrespected, even after beating them. More fuel for the Celtics' fire. I think the NETS will lose point blank I hope they prove me wrong but I'm a realist THey 're not playing the big three because they're playing the Knicks tomorrow. This is a serious underestimation of what they're going up against tonight Chris Douglas Roberts can't guard me. His defense is atrocious. It is beyond terrible. Because people keep thinking the Nets wanted him back and he didn't want to come back. Yi with 4 fouls, Sean with 2 fouls, Brook with 2 fouls... That's why the Nets are stacked in bigs Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]   [read the full post]

Rate Conspiracy Theories

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) The conspiracy theories are coming out in force with the Celtics' signing of Darius Miles. Before signing with the Celtics, Miles worked out with the Nets, Celtics, Suns and Mavericks and reports out of the workouts were very positive. But, how about this one. We know that other players have come back from microfracture surgery, Jason Kidd and Amare Stoudamire come to mind, and have been very effective. Could it be that Danny simply sees a player who has worked very hard to rehab his knee and will be able to contribute to the Celtics this season? The Celtics were looking for a player to fill the void left by James Posey, mostly on the defensive end and if healthy, it seems as though Miles might be able to do just that.   [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (FLCeltsFan) Mark Bartlestein, who was instrumental in getting James Posey a big payday in New Orleans, is also Eddie House's agent and coincidentally, he is also the agent for Devean George, who has been linked to the Celtics in rumors lately. After the Celtics re-signed his client Eddie House, Bartelstein said the Celtics are interested in another of his free-agent clients: forward Devean George. Eric Pincus, a contributor to Hoopsworld for the Lakers and Clippers had this to say about George on the CelticStuff list: I know George well – he’s athletic – can shoot – and is a better than average defender. He’s not a particularly bright basketball player though – doesn’t have a great handle – and can’t do much more than spot up. He also gets hurt a lot – and do...   [read the full post]

Rate Celtics Grind Out a Win in New Jersey

By FLCeltsFan In a game of runs that was downright ugly at times, the Celtics ground out a win against a tough Nets team. Both teams went on runs as the Nets went up 12 early and the Celtics came back to go up 47-44 at the half. The Nets went back up by 9 in the second and the Celtics came back once again for an 86-77 win. There were 15 lead changes and 11 ties in the game as it went back and forth until the Celtics used their defense in the fourth quarter to take control and win the game. Both teams struggled from the free throw line with the Celtics shooting 13-21 for 62% and the Nets were a woeful 9-24 for 38%. At the end of 3, the Nets were out-rebounding the Celtics 42-29 but they put forth a bit more effort on the boards in the 4th to finish with a 52-44 deficit on the boards. The Cel...   [read the full post]

Rate A Big Three Matchup

Original at LOY's PLACE a celtics green external link    Fri, Jan 11

By FLCeltsFan Both the Celtics and the Nets have a Big Three, or a trio of three All Stars to lead the team. For the Nets, they have Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, and Richard Jefferson. The Celtics have Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett. Two of the respective trios match up against each other with Pierce on Jefferson and Ray Allen on Jefferson. The key to this game may be the play of the matchups of the other two. Jason Kidd vs Rajon Rondo will be crucial. Kidd has had 4 triple doubles in a row and is on a roll. If Rondo can take him out of his game, it will go a long way toward neutralizing the Nets' offense as so much of it goes through Kidd. KG will be matched up against Sean Williams who is strong and a very good shot blocker but KG has the advantage in height and in experience....   [read the full post]

Rate Celtics Take on Nets on the Road

Original at LOY's PLACE a celtics green external link    Sat, Nov 10

By FLCeltsFan Game Notes The Nets were picked by many of the preview magazines to win the Atlantic. They have their own big 3 of Kidd, Jefferson and Carter and are a dangerous team. The Celtics have already beaten one Atlantic Division rival and with many picking the Nets to win the division, a win in this game would definitely send a message. The Celtics have a lot going against them in this game. It is the second of back to back games. They are traveling after the Hawks game and won't have the home crowd to get them going. Doc will be attending his father's funeral in the morning and may or may not coach. The Celtics 3 stars all played 35+ minutes against the Hawks. With all the adversity surrounding this game, it will definitely be a test for them.   [read the full post]

Rate NBA Season Previews Part 2

Original at LOY's PLACE a celtics green external link    Tue, Oct 30

By FLCeltsFan It is interesting to see the differences between the Athlon preview and this one. While both see the Celtics second to the Nets in the division and don't see the Celtics getting to the conference finals, Athlon sees the Heat finishing out of the playoffs and CBS see them going to the NBA Finals. Both see Phoenix winning it all this season. They ask if Pierce, Allen and Garnett make the Celtics the team to beat in the East. Here is part of their answer: But the other top teams in the East have something the Celtics don't: a solid bench. Players like Leon Powe, Tony Allen, and Brian Scalabrine aren't exactly scaring anybody. And that could be the difference when the playoffs arrive. Rate Celtics Bench versus Nets Starters

Original at LOY's PLACE a celtics green external link    Tue, Oct 23

Thumbnail

By FLCeltsFan Unlike the game that they played against the Celtics last week, the Nets started Carter and Jefferson and played their starters considerable minutes with Carter leading the way with 32 minutes. Pierce, Garnett, Ray Allen, and Perk were all on the bench in suits while our bench held their own against the Nets starting front line. Shooting was once again a concern with the Celtics shooting 32.9% from the field and a whopping 19% from beyond the arc. The game was also sloppy with 20 turnovers for the Celtics and 21 for the Nets. For much of the game, both teams were sloppy with the ball and it was like a ping pong game at times with the ball going back and forth with each team turning it over.   [read the full post]
