Mike Pelfrey (6-4, 4.52 ERA) takes on Cincinatti's Aaron Harang (5-8, 3.89) in the final game for both teams before the all-star break. Pelfrey wasn't good in his last start as he walked three, gave up eight hits and five runs in three innings in a 8-0 loss to the Dodgers on July 7.

The Good News: Four members of the Met starting rotation have at least five wins (Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, Livan Hernandez, John Maine-DL-). The Bad News: Two members of the starting rotation have at least five losses (Johan Santana, Livan Hernandez).

The Mets are coming off a victory (a rare thing to say these days) as yesterday Mike Pelfrey got the best of the Brewers' Yovani Gallardo in a duel that saw the Mets come out on top 1-0. The one run came from an RBI single by Ryan Church in the sixth inning.

Mike Pelfrey tosses what he calls "the worst game of his career" in an 11-6 loss to the Pirates. Moments later, Carlos Beltran stands at his locker and says he is "embarrassed" by the Pirates' sweep, among other not-so-subtle rips at the stumbling Mets.

With today's rainout, everyone moves back a day, with John Maine starting tomorrow in Atlanta, followed by Livan Hernandez to finish up the two-game series at Turner Field. Then it's Johan Santana and Mike Pelfrey for the next two-game series when the Phillies visit Citi Field.

My best guess for the seven bullpen jobs out of spring training are: Rodriguez, Putz, Green, Feliciano, Stokes, Redding and one of the non-roster lefties. Starters Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, Oliver Perez and John Maine will be the first four starters.
