By Vince Mercandetti I would almost guarantee the Yankees are going to go hard at the Sabathia, Burnett, Lowe and Sheets' of the world before resorting back to Pettitte, who makes an excellent back up plan. I'd be hard pressed to believe Pettitte plays anywhere else (LA) especially Boston, which has been reported some places. I think like he made the Yankees do last season while trying to decide if he wanted to retire or not, the Yankees will make him wait before making an offer. For Pettitte this could benefit him anyway, if the Yankees only walk away with one top of the line starter (i'd find it extremely hard to believe they don't get any, nevertheless only one), Pettitte might get the same salary he didn't deserve last year.
