The Philadelphia Phillies picked up the 2010 team option for reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee, keeping the ace lefty around next season for $9 million.

By By REUTERS PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The Philadelphia Phillies exercised their $8 million club option on left-hander Cliff Lee on Friday, as the National League champions were quickly back to work just two days after losing the World Series.

Chase Utley hit two home runs to raise his World Series total to a record-tying five, Cliff Lee won again and the Philadelphia Phillies staved off elimination with an 8-6 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 5 on Monday night.
