Davis Cup - GB v Austria Wimbledon, 19-21 September 2008 Wimbledon weather Live video Live text Photos Preview Order of play BBC coverage GREAT BRITAIN v AUSTRIA Date 19-21 September Coverage Friday: 1100-1900 BBC Red Button, 1100-1430 BBC2, Saturday: 1300-1630 BBC1, Sunday: 1200-1500 BBC2, Live text commentary on BBC Sport website plus updates on BBC Radio 5 Live Please turn on JavaScript. Media requires JavaScript to play. Britain's hopes of victory rest with world number four Murray Andy Murray insists he can handle the pressure of carrying Britain's hopes as they face a crucial Davis Cup promotion tie against Austria at Wimbledon. The British number one will face Alex Peya in Friday's singles, before what is likely to be the key match of the tie against Jurgen Melzer on Sunday. Alex Bogdanovic opens against Melzer on Friday, while Ross Hutchins and Jamie Murray have been named in the doubles. "I'm confident I'll be able to handle the pressure," said Murray, 21. Depending on the tie situation after Friday's singles, British captain John Lloyd could decide to pair Murray with his brother Jamie in Saturday's doubles. Murray says he has suffered discomfort from a long-term knee problem because of the change of surface from hard to grass courts, but is prepared to play on all three days. "I'll see how my body reacts to the first match but hopefully I should be OK (for the doubles)," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. GREAT BRITAIN v AUSTRIA Friday (starts 1100 BST) Bogdanovic v Melzer A Murray v Peya Saturday (1300 BST) Hutchins/J Murray v Knowle/Melzer Sunday (1100 BST) A Murray v Melzer Bogdanovic v Peya "It depends on the scoreline and how everyone's feeling. We're lucky this time in that we have quite a few combinations." Defeat for Britain would mean missing out on the elite 16-team World Group in 2008 and it is likely that world number four Murray will have to win both his singles matches if Lloyd's team are to see off Austria. Lloyd believes Murray is a different player since his shock run to the US Open final earlier this month. "The improvement that he's made just since Wimbledon has been unbelievable," said the British captain. "Beating Rafael Nadal was another psychological one to get out of the way. Next job is to win a Grand Slam title and he's close - he's really close. "You can see the way he's walking around now... he knows there are only three better players than him on the planet and that must be a nice feeling - and I know he knows he's closing in on them as well." Murray's run included a remarkable recovery from two sets down against Melzer, but the Austrian has questioned whether his rival will be able to cope with the additional expectations following his maiden Grand Slam final. "The whole country expects him to win the Davis Cup by himself," said the Austrian left-hander. "After playing such a great Grand Slam I think it's tough to get your head clear and to focus for the next one and that's the big thing. "It's a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Let's see how good he can cope with it on the weekend." Murray shrugged off the pressure, and hit back by citing Melzer's less than impressive Davis Cup win-loss record of 13-23. Bogdanovic, Britain's number two, has never won a live Davis Cup rubber. "This is my goal, to win a match in Davis Cup," said the 24-year-old, who lost 3-6 6-2 6-1 to Melzer in their only previous meeting - on grass in 2006. "There's a lot of pressure on you. You're not playing for yourself, you're playing for your team and your country, and you want to do well. Every time you don't, you get down on yourself. "It's going to be a difficult match for me but all I can do is try my best and see what happens." The tie is being played on Court One and, while agreeing that Britain's best chance of victory is on grass, Murray has admitted he would prefer to have played on an indoor hard court. 606: DEBATE With a new world ranking of four, Murray is now there to be shot at BBC Sport's Tom Fordyce "It's tough on the body to change surfaces at this time of year especially after a long summer, but I've got a few weeks off after this so I've got a bit of time off to rest," said Murray, who pulled out of February's tie in Argentina because he did not want to risk injuring his knee. "It just takes my body some time to get used to the surface changes and I like to take a bit of time when I do switch. Luckily I've got a few weeks before the indoor season." Murray and brother Jamie can both look back on good runs at SW19 earlier this season. Andy reached the singles quarter-finals, where he lost to eventual winner Nadal, while Jamie made the semi-finals of the mixed doubles after winning the event in 2007. Bogdanovic went out in the first round of the singles but since then has seen his ranking rise 75 places to 162 thanks to some encouraging results on the Challenger circuit. Hutchins, son of Paul, the head of men's tennis at the Lawn Tennis Association, is ranked 86th in doubles and partnered Andy Murray at the US Open. The Austrians will be no pushover though. Melzer, ranked 41, was a quarter-finalist at the Olympics before testing Murray to the maximum in New York. Julian Knowle, who partners Melzer in Saturday's doubles, is one of the world's top doubles experts and has won 11 titles, including the US Open in 2007. Peya, ranked 164, and Martin Fischer, 231 in the world, are less well-known. But with the strength of the lesser players a key factor in Davis Cup tennis, the captain's tactics in choosing who plays who could be the difference between winning and losing.
