Dream Theater – Basically the flag bearer for progressive rock. Train of Thought is their most metal album, but every album has significant metal overtones through out. Scenes from a Memory is widely considered to be one of the best prog album of the 1990’s if not of all time. (Dream Theater Ex...

What a stunning little piece of work this is! From the moment you start this up you're blasted to the other side of the galaxy - literally! This album really is brilliant, Rush were one of the greats of the 70's and they manage to show it in this album, and not just this album either, but several...

Hemispheres is no less than a PROG Rock record, yet it's just not the side I particularly enjoy from Rush, and well it's not that it's a excellent PROG Rock record either, A Farewell to Kings deserves that position.

I think for some people the choice of material would be off-putting, and whilst I agree the setlist is not faultless (the setlist from Exit Stage Left is perfect) you have to appreciate this is right up- to-date, hence the setlist, and in my view this is a top-notch concert DVD. Jacob's Ladder is the darkest song Rush ever made. It plods along slowly, and uses well of the keyboard effects. The emotional resonance is powerful, and the boys cull a wide range of musical ideas for it. Certainly a career highlight, those dangerous and hateful guitar lines that Lifeson st...

They rely so heavily on somewhat complex hard rock, that it damages the overall diversity, not to mention the hard rock can feel quite plain at times, and Geddy wants to be the best Plant he can.

In fact, most of the lyrics on here are a return to fantasy ideals, and they're a regression for Peart. The music is unmemorable. What hap...

I sort of lost track of Rush about 15-20 years ago. I’m not sure why as I was a big fan in the '70s and '80s and their vinyl releases remain in my collection. Snakes & Arrows Live provided a good way to catch up and renew old acquaintances.Showcasing Rush at their best, this almost four-hour, t...
