By erickson@49ersnews.com Not only that but the 49ers had this game won. But the turnovers killed them…oh and the Seahawks had lots of help from the referees. If the 49ers still have a chance they needs lots of help from the Cardinals opponents…who am I kidding the 49ers would have to win in order for that to happen.
Is Gore Happy with the New Offense?
Original at 49ersnews.com
• Thu, Dec 3
By erickson@49ersnews.com The 49ers offense of late has moved more to passing. The game against the Jags, Alex Smith lined up in the shotgun formation 25 of the 49ers’ 38 plays in the first half. Looking at those numbers it seems that Frank Gore is being left out in the cold. The past two games Gore has had 23 touches. Seven ag...

By erickson@49ersnews.com The 49ers now prepare for the Seattle Seahawks and with the Titans beating the Cardinals the 49ers are just two games back with a favorable schedule heading their way. They still have some hope, but they’ll need to continue to have strong performances all around and hope from some more help...

By erickson@49ersnews.com What a disaster this season is turning into. The Cardinals are now running away with the division and the 49ers do not look prepared to challenge them. After the loss to the Packers on Sunday, Mike Singletary’s team falls three games behind the NFC champs. With only six games left to play, [...]

Despite Ugly Win, Cheerleaders Remain Beautiful
Original at 49ersnews.com
• Fri, Nov 13
By erickson@49ersnews.com The offense as a whole did not fare very well against the Chicago Bears. Frank Gore finally received more than 20 carries for the first time since the first game of the season, and he did average four yards a carry, but as always, take away a big run from him and you see the results of a poor offen...
Are They Who We Thought They Were?
Original at 49ersnews.com

By erickson@49ersnews.com Also are the 49ers defense who we thought they were? I thought I was going to be writing this article stating they were not who we thought they were. With the way that last drive was unfolding with Cutler marching down the field it looked as if those four interceptions were going to be for naugh...

Original at 49ersnews.com

By Niner Pundit The San Francisco 49ers’ leader knows he lost his cool. Roddy White had a 90-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown and a 31-yard TD reception, Michael Turner ran for three scores and the Falcons flattened the 49ers 45-10 on Sunday to end San Francisco’s five-game home winning streak.
Six Year Deal Coming for Crabtree?
Original at 49ersnews.com
• Tue, Oct 6
By Niner Pundit The Niners have done this in the past, with cornerback Nate Clements. His free-agent contract, widely publicized as an eight-year, $80 million deal, is in reality a seven-year, $64 million contract. First off he hasn't signed anything yet. Everyone is on pins and needles waiting to see if C...

Koyaanisqatsi: Your 2009 San Francisco 49ers

By Erik Klackner But all is not well. The passing game ranks 30th in the NFL, and has failed to generate any sustained momentum. And while Singletary and offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye may still harbor aspirations of having a 60/40 run/pass ratio, the passing game must hold up its 40 of the bargain.
49ers 23 – Seahawks 10
Original at 49ersnews.com

By Niner Pundit I know I’m going to get a lot of crap here after I say this, but the 49ers need a real QB and a real OC. Yes, I know Hill is 9-3 as a starter and 6-0 at home. But the guy can’t throw, can’t elude the pass rush, and looks like the Dan Quissenberry of the NFL. Today the victory goes to Frank Gore and the Defens...

49ers Did Not Sign Trent Green

By erickson@49ersnews.com This time of year rumors are flying rampant and this particular site, TheRumorGuy.com has a single quick news line that says. The 49ers have signed QB Trent Green to a one year deal. Well I’m happy to say after a few phone calls that the Rumor Guy is full of crap. Thank God for that. Nolan’s Job on the Line?
Original at 49ersnews.com
• Sat, Nov 3
By erickson@49ersnews.com This was supposed to be the year that the combination of good young talent and a weak NFC West made the 49ers a potential playoff team. But the 49ers aren’t getting to the postseason, and now there is actually talk in San Francisco that head coach Mike Nolan’s job could be on the line. The 49ers play the Falcons Sunday, and for as bad as the Atlanta offense has looked this year without Michael Vick at quarterback, it’s a lot better than the San Francisco offense has looked without Norv Turner calling the plays. Nolan chose Jim Hostler as Turner’s successor, and that decision has had disastrous consequences on the field. If the 49ers lose to the woeful Falcons Sunday, it could have disastrous consequences for Nolan’s job security, too. [read the full post]

By erickson@49ersnews.com Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott was on KNBR today and was talking about the state of our beloved 49ers and he said if he were coach, he’d cut Jonas Jennings, based on things he has heard and seen. Can’t say I disagree. The sad thing is Nolan has already stated that when healthy, Jennings will get his starting spot at LT back. By erickson@49ersnews.com When the 49ers have the ball: Block Key Matchup: 49ers offensive line vs Ravens front seven - The 49ers JV line gave up six sacks to the Seattle Seahawks and the Ravens defense is much better than the Seahawks so if the O-line continues its woes look for Dilfer to be running for his life all day. Don’t be surprised if Shaun Hill makes an appearance due to Dilfer getting killed. more…) The 49ers (2-2) host the Baltimore Ravens (2-2) for their second home game in a row. Last week the 49ers forgot to show up on offense and the Seahawks beat them 23-3 to take sole possession of first place. The Ravens did the same against the Browns. Both team are coming off of losses and both [...] [read the full post]
This Is Our Week To Shine

By erickson@49ersnews.com This week, the Seattle Seahawks are facing the Cincinatti Bengals, the Arizona Cardinals are facing the Baltimore Ravens and the St. Louis Rams are facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. All three of those are extremely winnable games against our division rivals. If the Bucs win, that’s basically the death blow to the Rams. I think its more or less a given that the Ravens SHOULD beat the Cardinals, and the Bengals really can and SHOULD beat the Seahawks.
