With the 37th overall pick, received for the Phillies signing Pedro Feliz, the Giants selected lefty-hitting 3B Conor Gillaspie (obviously a righty thrower then) of Wichita State University. He will be 21 years old on July 18th. Here is the comment in the MLB.com Draft Tracker:

Perhaps this quote was taken out of context. Perhaps Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was talking about a different Feliz on his team, like Pat "Feliz" Burrell. Otherwise, it's the most ridiculous baseball thing I've read all year. Manuel told the Philly Inquirer that Feliz "gets a big hit n...

That written, I'm not a big fan of booing. Opposing players, especially Dodgers: That's a booin'. A Giants player who publicly proclaims his disgust with Giants fans: That's a booin'. Armando Benitez: You'd better believe that's a booin'. But it always seemed distasteful to boo Pedro Feliz...

Think about that. After the equivalent of nine full regular-season games, the Giants said, wait, we can't start this guy! Gasp! Forget that spring stats are worthless; forget that players like Pedro Feliz, Todd Linden, and Lance Niekro tore up Scottsdale last spring. Forget that Brian Da...

Moving on to Feliz...well, my hatred of Pedro is well-documented here. The only question, I guess, is what did Sabean expect when he brought Feliz back this offseason? That he'd magically turn into Matt Williams? We fans pretty much anticipated another year of Felizian helplessness at the p...

Lots of Talk, Little Action at the Meetings

The Winter Meetings came and went with very little action to speak of on the Giants' front. A ton of talk and rumors, but no moves materialized. The Giants did however offer Pedro Feliz arbitration and unless he gets his coveted 3 year offer from some team, it looks like he will accept arbitrat...

Pedro Feliz is hitting eighteen points better but with no home runs all August. Relief pitcher Steve Kline’s ERA is 12.14. Ray Durham has seven hits in his last 64 at-bats. Omar Vizquel didn’t clear waivers, apparently, leaving the Giants stuck with him for the time being.
