Even in the most lopsided blowouts the losing team usually makes some kind of a run but Cleveland led by at least 29 points for the entire second half. The easy win enabled LeBron James to play a career-low tying 17 minutes but he made the most of his limited court time with 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and one steal. Zydrunas Ilgauskas led Cleveland with 17 points and seven rebounds. Chris Wilcox paced Oklahoma City with 14 points. First, the franchise set sales records for Thunder merchandise in the first 24 hours after the team announced the nickname. This isn't surprising since every Sonics fan and every new OKC fan had to get all new shirts, jerseys, etc since none was in existence before this. Second, the Ford Center where the Thunder will play is getting a new floor for the new franchise. The same company that constructed the Boston Celtics' famed parquet floor, has built a new court that will be used by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Less than a month after that, Marshall was traded from the Cavs to the Sonics. The Sonics moved to Oklahoma City this summer and changed their name to the Thunder. Prior to the official announcement of the team name this past Wednesday, the team waived Marshall on August 20th.

Bennett retained the rights to the SuperSonics’ name and logos, but agreed not to use them after moving to Oklahoma City. If a new NBA team arrives in Seattle, Bennett would turn over the rights to the new team’s owner at no cost, as long as it meets with NBA approval.
