By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) Spider-Man then asks the bartender where the Bookie lives. Spider-Man threatens to destroy the bar costing the bartender thousands of dollars in damage. The bartender then gives Spider-Man an address. Spider-Man leaves and the bartender then places a phone call to someone that Spider-Man is on his way. The Bad: The fact remains that Amazing Spider-Man is not actually a part of the Marvel Adventures line of comic books. At least, it is not officially a part of the Marvel Adventures titles. This has been my biggest criticism of this “new” Amazing Spider-Man. I don’t mind all-ages stories. That is exactly the role of the Marvel Adventure titles. [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) Spider-Man mentions that Captain America said that he thought there was some rebellious faction in SHILED trying to kill the Avengers. Evidently, Captain America felt there was something rotten going on with SHIELD. Spider-Man then says that the Skrulls were mining vibranium here and then tried to kill the Avengers here. The ending to New Avengers #41 was a total miss for me. That is because I find the plotline involving the 1970’s Captain America to be completely lacking in drama or intrigue. We know that the 1970’s Captain America is a Skrull. We have seen Steve’s dead body over on Captain America after he was killed by Sharon Carter. I find this 1970’s Captain America plotline a bit of a waste of time. [read the full post]

Additionally, the creators have wasted no time ramping up the drama with fascinating goings-on in the super-hero’s life. Let’s sum up: J. Jonah Jameson has lost the Daily Bugle to a competitor, and is lying in a hospital bed. There are two new, and very intriguing, villains giving Spidey a lot of trouble, and one of them spends time disturbingly close to Peter’s Aunt May in his “alter ego.” Old spider-tracers (tracking devices used by Spider-man) are turning up on murder victims around New York. And, as if all of that weren’t enough, one of the most notorious crime families in the Marvel Universe has made the do-gooder one of their favorite people, adding to his already-dismal public approval ratings. By Rokk Krinn Spider-Man pursues the speeding van. The van hits a large street sign. Spider-Man catches the sign from falling on some innocent bystanders. The bystanders accuse Spider-Man of almost crushing them with the street sign and claim that J. Jonah Jameson was right about Spider-Man. If you had the hankering to read about the down on his luck teenage Peter Parker who is living the single life then you could pick up an issue of Ultimate Spider-Man. If you were in the mood to read about the married adult Peter with a more stable grasp on his life then you could snag an issue of Amazing Spider-Man. By Rokk Krinn Spider-Woman mentions how these Skrulls are more advanced and not even Wolverine or Daredevil could tell by scent that Electra was a Skrull. Of course, Spider-Woman re-iterates the fact that the New Avengers all think that Tony is a Skrull. Ares is enamored with Spider-Woman and wants to nail her. Ms. Marvel confronts Tony that she really isn’t the team leader. Tony responds that she is. (I have to go with Ms. Marvel on this one.) Spider-Woman is sad that her good friend Ms. Marvel isn’t happy that she is back. Commander Hill then alerts Tony to the fact that Venom symbiotes are running amok in New York City. The Avengers assemble. End of issue. [read the full post]

By Rokk Krinn And despite the threats of numerous readers to drop this title, the fact is that I’m sure sales numbers for Amazing Spider-Man #546 are going to be pretty solid. The comic book store that I frequent is hands down the largest comic book story in a metro area of almost 2 million people. The owner of the store told me yesterday that not a single person dropped Amazing Spider-Man from their pull list. Now I’m sure other people frequent comic book shops where plenty of people dropped Amazing Spider-Man from their pull list. We see J. Jonah Jameson on the news report debating how Spider-Man is a total menace. The news anchor comments how Spider-Man hasn’t been seen for months. By Rokk Krinn MJ and Peter are back at the hotel room where Aunt May got shot. MJ is in the bathroom getting sick. MJ tells Peter that Aunt May had a good long life. That everyone dies at some point. That maybe they should let her go. Peter counters that he would agree with MJ if Aunt May died from old age. But, she didn’t. Aunt May died taking a bullet meant for Peter. That he can’t live with that guilt. I liked the fact that the 616 Universe Spider-Man was a grown up married character that had evolved from the skinny nerdy kid in high school and all those problems he used to have. And if I ever felt nostalgic for that version of Peter all I had to do was pick up an issue of Ultimate Spider-Man and get my fill of the young traditional version of Peter. [read the full post]

By Rokk Krinn It is no secret how much The Revolution has thoroughly detested this unbelievably horrid story arc that we are getting on Amazing Spider-Man. Luckily, this terrible story arc should be coming to an end since Amazing Spider-Man #543 is the final installment of this five part story arc. I cannot wait to get JMS off this title and to get all these lousy stories behind us. Let’s go ahead and hit this review for Amazing Spider-man #543. Overall: It is only fitting that a story arc as lousy as this one would have an ending as lame as what we got in Amazing Spider-Man #543. By Rokk Krinn We cut to the orange monster that MJ transformed into back during the Clone Saga on a rampage taking out the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. It turns out it is just a dream and MJ wakes up in the middle of her class. The teacher scolds MJ for falling asleep in class. Suddenly, Peter and Kitty both arrive to class late. MJ doesn’t look pleased. Overall: Ultimate Spider-Man #112 was a real disappointment. Usually, this title is an excellent read. I’ll chalk this issue up as an aberration. I’m sure that the introduction of the Green Goblin will make for a wild ride and that Bendis will return to form with the next issue. [read the full post]
