By ComicList The comic is good because it has a complicated plot using many characters with a multitude of allegiances. At the heart of the story is Cade and his two pirate buddies. They are making their way through Sith Imperial ships and stealing cargo. They cash in the stolen goods on the remote planet of...

By ComicList The issue is heavy on the strategy. It’s got a simple enough setup. The new alliance led by Admiral Stazi and the former Emporor Fel’s fleet attempt a hit on some of the Sith Empire’s ships. Fel sends his most unpredictable commander, Admiral Fenel.

By ComicList Probably the most important of the two sides is the Sith seeing as how they rule the galaxy. This issue covers exactly how Darth Wyyrlok plans to deal with keeping the others in line. For the most part, he plans to lie and deceive the others. This certainly can’t be the long-term plan, but for now it will suffice. We also find out that he, in fact, has offspring. We all know how Sith like to bump off their masters and since Darth Wyyrlok is already the third Wyyrlok to serve the Emperor, I’m thinking the kids end up killing off their parents. We’ll see how this plays out, but for now Darth Wyyrlok will be the man to further the mission of Darth Krayt. The question still nags at me though. Is Krayt really dead?   [read the full post]

By ComicList Tremendous issue. This one covers two stories as follow-ups to the death of Krayt. First, Darth Wyrrlok has to manipulate the other Sith to follow him while he conceals the death of his master. We also find that he has offspring that I suspect will one day kill off dear old dad. The other plot has Cade constantly crossing over to the dark side to keep his childhood love interest Azlyn alive. He brings her to his Uncle where he decides to save her using something worthy of the Skywalker line. This issue managed to open a lot of doors to future plots while not completely derailing the ideas already presented in previous ones. It’s interesting to watch the Skywalkers make familiar mistakes. I can make the claim that this is the issue to jump on with because i...   [read the full post]

By ComicList Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic #39 Dark Horse Comics Miller, Ching & Atiyeh The issue begins by introducing Goethar. He’s a hybrid of gladiator and pod racer. Basically he’s an entertainer with all kinds of handlers and leeches helping to suck him dry and keep him earning them money. He retires. The premise is good. Pod racing, gladiator events, a father-son dynamic, some gambling and crooked scum. It’s a fun Star Wars story if you ask me. The artwork is good but is at its best when it shows off the games. The easy thing to do would have been to use scenes from the Phantom Menace, but this comic redefines these events and puts a unique stamp on them. Also the art takes advantage of showing off some alien characters nicely.   [read the full post]

By ComicList 8. Superman #685 7. Star Wars Legacy #33 6. Hulk #10 Basically this issue is a one shot about one of the fringe characters. It plucks him out of the past (issue 5) and builds up his back-story and then plants him firmly in the present. It’s a great issue to show off just how many enemies the Elephantmen have out there. The comic successfully pulls this guy out of obscurity and makes him a major player. The comic doesn’t really use any of the established Elephantmen to tell the story but it does give some insight into the reptile Elephantmen. It’s a very good issue. Add in a bonus story, letters, notes and a killer Blade Runner cover and this comic gives you way more than your typical $3 comic.   [read the full post]

By ComicList Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic #38 Dark Horse Comics Miller, Zachary & Atiyeh There is a scene in the movie Apocalypse Now where the Navy boat stops a Vietnamese boat for a routine check. There is no reason for them to stop and it only brings about an awful turn of events once they do. This comic had the feeling to it. They find a ship and they decide to stop. Why? It can only bring trouble. Shortly after the introductions, Slyssk is found nearly dead. He seems to have been choked, much like the dead people already on board the ship. Coincidence? I think not. Eventually Zayne has to determine if the killer is Toki or Kayo and what he finds is that Toki has some Sith tendencies to him and that Kayo is a lunatic robot.   [read the full post]

By ComicList This is a great origin and character introduction story. I can’t say this comic is essential because I’m not sure it is. I do know that knowing a character’s story is helpful and this one is as good of an origin as I’ve seen in a Star Wars story in a long time. I think followers of this series will enj...
