OMFG! Brian Austin Green is going to be a BADASS villain on Smallville! WHEN FANDOMS COLLIDE! Your webmasters here at SCS also run a huge Smallville site OSCK and are in current fits of apoplexy over the latest casting news from TV Guide. After telling the CW they could keep their job as the lead on One Tree Hill it has been announced that Brian Austin Green will be appearing in at least two episodes of Smallville as Metallo. Who is Metallo you ask? From the Wiki: Metallo is a comic book supervillain and cyborg who appears in Superman stories published by DC Comics. Metallo’s trademark is his kryptonite power source, which he often uses as a weapon against Superman. His traditional identity is John Corben. The character first appeared in Action Comics #252 (May 1959). In 2009, Metallo was ranked as IGN’s 52nd Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time. Here is the official announcement from TV GUIDE: It’s official — the new season of Smallville can’t get here soon enough. Brian Austin Green has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Metallo, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. That’s right — the Terminator alum is now playing a cyborg himself. That is a pretty freakin’ super bit of casting, right? Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego “Daily Planet” journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25. Interestingly, Smallville fans were waiting for news on big, bad Zod, given the events of the Season 8 finale, but that role still has yet to be cast. (I suppose you could say the show “zigged” instead of Zod.) Green’s Smallville gig comes on the heels of the Beverly Hills 90210 alum passing on the role of One Tree Hill sports agent Clayton. (And isn’t this role so, so much cooler?!) Prior to that, Green had been attached to the CW pilot Body Politic, but that series didn’t get picked up for fall. This past TV season, Green costarred on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was canceled after two seasons.
