Why Fridays won’t Terminate TERMINATOR November 6th, 2008 Their fight is now in YOUR hands Why Fridays won’t Terminate TERMINATOR By Erika Blake Sarah Connor Society Admin. Alright guys - Fox heard our complaints LOUD AND CLEAR. TSCC is performing like crap in the ratings because it’s against too much competition on Monday nights, so it’s now time that we all put up or shut up. Fox did something completely unexpected and put EVERYTHING in OUR hands. If TSCC fails on Fridays in the winters, it’s not because of big reality TV, it’s not because of football, it’s because it’s fans gave up on her. Come January BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is returning for it’s final 10 episode run. TSCC will air on the same night AS THE BEST SCI-FI SHOW ON TELEVISION. With Fox moving TSCC to Fridays AND pairing it with DOLLHOUSE, they’ve just given sci-fi fans the biggest sci-fi-fest of our lives! For YEARS Fox has put nothing cohesively together on Friday nights other than reality junk or miss-matched programming choices - now they’re actually building a night for sci-fi programming, a night that the Sci-Fi Channel has coined for many years as “Sci-Friday.”  The Sci-Fi channel always repeats their shows, so now sci-fi fans can watch TSCC, Dollhouse, BSG, and Sanctuary as one KILLER Friday night of TV viewing. Exactly HOW is that bad news? Here’s a word of optimism for you - at Comic Con this past year Dollhouse and BSG packed the second largest rooms at the event. Terminator, we didn’t get that big of a room but ours was packed as well. Fans of those 2 shows, love TERMINATOR. It’s a good fit folks! 1) Fox is putting their most CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED sci-fi show, TSCC, on the same night as the Peabody Award winning BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. How many of us have shouted out that Terminator IS BSG’s heir? I know my sister Kate does - repeatedly. This season in particular has been dark and gritty, just like BSG turned in season 3 when everyone was stuck on New Caprica - it’s been kinda hard to watch, hasn’t it? Seeing the Connors ripped apart as a family unit and Skynet outsmarting them every step of the way? You all have to know that the tides will be turning on the show, because for all that there’s darkness right now, TSCC is all about hope which is why it’s devoted fans keep tuning in every week and why we all will watch it LIVE on Fridays. Blog after blog keeps stating that Terminator has shoved BSG out of their favorite show spot. NOW it’s being given the chance to run on the SAME night as the final episodes of BSG air. The best sci-fi programming on the same night. The folks at Fox are genious for planning this. 2) Top this off - it’s being paired with DOLLHOUSE. If we’d been paired w/ some reality crap show then we’d know that the network had lost faith in the show, instead, they’ve given sci-fi fans a huge gift. DOLLHOUSE was supposed to air w/ 24 but they put it w/ a show that will have more similiar viewing demographics AND will likely attract more female viewers. Both shows have MAD Whedonverse appeal. Yeah, FIREFLY tanked on Fridays, but Fridays haven’t always been deathtraps for sci-fi programming on Fox. Also, there are tons more Whedonverse fans now then there were when FIREFLY aired.  Whedon fans - you’ve now got a full night to not only support your favorite creative master but his favorite starlet Summer Glau all in one night! Top that off,  DOLLHOUSE stars one of BSG’s brightest alums, Tamoh Penikett again, another nod from Fox to harken fans who already watch sci-fi on Fridays to watch their line-up. I know Joss is a huge BSG and TSCC fan - so he’s got to be feeling that his new show is being surrounded by nothing but the best. We’d all be bitching if they’d shoved us on Thursdays, this is now our opportunity to take the show back and let the back half of the season go out with a ratings bang. Once upon a time Fox’s greatest hit show of all time started on Fridays. THE X-FILES started as a cult hit and flourished there until it was moved to Sundays well into its run. More people stay home on Fridays than they care to admit and if you finally have a large selection of awesome, escapism tv to watch, why would you go out? Winter will be time to make Fridays Take Out with Terminator Night. We’ve got work to do. This Christmas, buy for all of your close friends and family Season 1 TSCC DVDS. Buy them Amazon or iTunes subscriptions to the first 13 episodes of the season and make them watch them all. Get them excited about the rest of the season. Get those folks who you knew watched it last winter but have fallen off this season to catch back on again. We only have fifteen more episodes to prove to Fox that keeping Terminator around for a season 3 is a good investment for them. This move proves that they’re willing to hold onto the show for us and for us to let them know that we still want it on the air. One last thing to remember - with TSCC being paired w/ their new show DOLLHOUSE, it’ll get HEAVILY promoted during AMERICAN IDOL. Time for us to show them that Fridays on Fox Rock! HERE! Zadokite November 7th, 2008 - 2:59 am Great article, Erica. Both you and FOX have my support on this decision. Now, to paint up some T: TSCC/Dollhouse banners to hang off my car Best wishes, The Zadokite allergygal November 7th, 2008 - 4:11 am Friday is a great night for TSCC. I was thrilled to hear the news. And creating a block of sci-fi is a mart move by FOX. I think we’ll do well in the new slot in Feb. FrenchfanofTSCC November 7th, 2008 - 4:43 am i welcome that Decision ! i believe the show can get same rate as last Year so ! i agree with that choice ! thanx FOX ! FFTSCC Okay November 7th, 2008 - 5:09 am Well after reading this I have new hope. I think of Firefly and what that show could have been that made me flip out on having TSCC on Fridays, which we call it the deathrap. But TSCC can hold it’s own. I guess Fox realize the DVR’s numbers make no since because people want to watch the show but it’s just so much to watch on Monday it’s not even funny. Also people are buying each episode on Itunes and Amazon which brings in more money and T4 is coming out meaning something even bigger. It is up to use to make sure TSCC doesn’t get cancelled. It’s the only show that is fresh and new that primetime TV haven’t had in a long time since the X-Files. taurus November 7th, 2008 - 5:24 am interesting erika, i always like your comments k8ie November 7th, 2008 - 8:18 am WORD. Robin November 7th, 2008 - 8:51 am Unfortunately I don’t like the movie. They could have given this show a lift by pairing it with either American Idol or 24 but instead they move it to Fridays, which is always considered a death night. First they put it on a tough Monday schedule and now this. This tells me they don’t really care about the show. It deserves better. I will be watching but i’m not confident about the numbers. I hope i’m wrong. ilovecats November 7th, 2008 - 9:54 am cautiously optimistic after reading that, hope the ratings go up!
