By Sahar Review: Ugly Betty, Season 3, Episode 24 (Finale) May 23, 2009 What a sad, sad ending to Season 3 of Ugly Betty. I turned off the TV after watching it and sat in the dark with tears in my eyes. And, thanks to Cyndi Lauper and Sarah McLachlan, I’m still not over it, and probably won’t be able to listen to the remake of Time after Time without seeing Daniel looking up, devastated, at Betty. If you rolled your eyes at that and have watched the episode, I dare you to watch the live version of the song while thinking of that ending; if you don’t even get a little bit of moisture in your eyes, then you’re made of stone. Not that it came as a surprise; we were expecting Molly to die. It didn’t make any sense to start Season 4 with a death, and a death does make for a great T... [read the full post]

By Sahar Review: Ugly Betty, Season 3, Episode 22: In the Stars May 24, 2009 I know, I know – what am I doing, reviewing Episode 22 after having seen and reviewed the finale? Well the way I see it, we’re in for quite a long, Betty-less time, so I might as well stretch it out as much as I can! And if I run out of episodes to review (which is going to happen very soon), I’ll just have to rehash some of the most interesting ones. While drinking a fruit smoothie beside a pool. Ah, summer, how I love you. In the Stars was another predictable yet great Ugly Betty episode. The predictability might have to do with the fact that we now know the characters pretty well (or rather, we know the writers’ style pretty well) and can more or less see where things are going. Neither mysel... [read the full post]

By Sahar Review: Ugly Betty, Season 3, Episode 20: Rabbit Test – Part I May 7, 2009 Needless to say, I’m very, very happy to have new Ugly Betty episodes back on the air! Unfortunately, I could only watch their first half (and barely) of the episode before the link was somehow broken, and I have yet to find another link to the episode (or take the time to do so). But I couldn’t resist – the first half of the episode has been going through my head for a couple of days now, and to ensure a good night’s sleep, I decided to get it out and review it. I absolutely loved the first couple of scenes; while Betty is finally living the large life, thanks to her (rich) boyfriend, Daniel and Wilhelmina are holding their end of the bargain to save Meade Publications & Mode b... By Sahar Review: Ugly Betty, Season 3, Episode 19 March 25, 2009 I took the time watching this episode of Ugly Betty after I heard rumours about how it was going on hiatus until the month of May – and apparently guys it’s true, no new Ugly Betty episodes until May 7th! Can you believe it, how they are toying with our emotions like this? How rude! Seriously though, why the hiatus? It’s not like the writers don’t have anything to write about – between the baby, Wilhelmina’s not getting over Connor, the company potentially going under, Betty’s evil step-mother, YETI, Amanda trying to find her father (what happened with that by the way?), Hilda and Ignacio both dating and, of course, the absolute fabulosity of Justin… GET WRITING ALREADY! And if you don... [read the full post]

By sahar009 Speaking of the devil, it will be interesting to find out if that baby really is Wilhelmina’s or not… And what would be the implications of such a discovery? Obviously Wilhelmina wouldn’t tell anyone, but will she be able to keep such it to herself? Or, more importantly, will Mark be able to...

By sahar009 Wilhelmina (to Daniel): I’m trying to antagonize you and it’s no fun when you’re not listening. Daniel: She’s sick. She’s dying. Wilhelmina: Great. Now you made me feel awkward. Ignacio: Who’s the best at chopping? Hilda: I just did my nails. Justin: Me too.

By sahar009 Wilhelmina: In life you have to make choices. You can’t have it all. Wilhelmina: Why am I being polite? This conversation is not amusing. Leave! Amanda: What’s happening in there anyway? Betty: It’s kind of serious, Amanda. Last point: seriously, why is Claire limping?

By sahar009 Just as I was seriously starting to wonder if the writers had decided to just drop the Christina/baby angle comes a great episode from Ugly Betty that culminates in quite a Wilhelmina-worthy birth of her child. And you all know how critical I have become lately of both Ugly Betty and Heroes,...

By sahar009 In any case, I really enjoyed the various story arcs: Ignacio and Elena, Claire and Daniel, Daniel and Molly and, of course, Connor and Wilhelmina (who is yet again wearing colour – what is going on with the world?). On a side note, why is Claire Meade limping? PS: Christina? Baby? Anyone?

By sahar009 Christina’s ‘Princes Leia’ look (suits her, but still nerdy) Claire slapping Daniel when he admits to her that there is ‘something about Molly’. Wilhelmina inviting a seven-month pregnant Christina for drinks at her place: “I’ll drink for the three of us”.
