By WFY(noreply@blogger.com) RF Austin Kearns' Washington career appears to be over. THe Nationals declined to pick up the 2010 option on his contract, buying him out for $1 million instead of paying him to play for $10 million. It is obviously the right decisions because Kearns can no longer hit.

How Many New Nationals Will It Take to Become a Contender?

By Farid Rushdi After yet another embarrassing loss on Sunday, the Washington Nationals are now 26-65 and on pace to win just 46 games in 2009, a scant six more games than the miserable Mets of 1962. The Nationals have a couple of options at this point. And Austin Kearns is hitting .196. Not much more to say there.

By Nate(noreply@blogger.com) If this is the opening round of the purge, let me be the first (or the 1,000,001) to suggest that Ronnie Belliard, Dmitri Young, Austin Kearns and Jesus Colome can be liquidated without posing much threat to that aforementioned first great Nationals team. Sell, Rizzo, sell!
