By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) MARVEL COMICS Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? As always, I am looking forward to the double shot of Ed Brubaker that we are getting with Captain America #44 and Daredevil #113. Captain America is the stronger of the two titles as it continues to be one of Marvel’s premier titles. Still, Daredevil is usually a solid read each and every month. Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? I am not expecting much from Hulk #8. This title continues to decline with each issue. While the artwork and the action is nice, the character work and the dialogue is just unbearable at times. [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) Writer: Mark Millar Wolverine then attacks Reed. Sue then makes Wolverine’s optic nerves invisible which renders him blind. The Thing then states that he hopes that Wolverine still has his healing factor as the Thing crushes Wolverine’s head with one punch. Comments Millar treats the reader to a surprise reveal that the Hooded Man was Wolverine. Even though the reader kind of figured that this was coming it was still a nice touch. Evidently, Millar has stated in interviews that he has left subtle clues tying together the Old Man Logan story with his version of Logan from even farther into the future. I appreciate that type of effort from a writer and now I am going to have to re-read both stories and pay closer attention. [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) BATMAN: CACAPHONY #1 MARVEL COMICS WOLVERINE #69 Which Marvel comic book am I most looking forward to reading? I am excited to read Big Hero 6 #3. This mini-series has been an absolute blast to read. I have been impressed with Claremont’s ability to capture that shonen manga feel with this title. I would be thrilled if Marvel decided to make Big Hero 6 an ongoing monthly title. This title would certainly fill a niche that is currently absent from Marvel’s monthly line-up. However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Wolverine #69. Despite the scheduling problems with this title, the Old Man Logan story arc has been a gripping tale. I cannot wait to see what Millar has in store for us with this issue. [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) Synopsis: We begin years ago in Kuwait with Wolverine carrying a badly injured Nick Fury through the desert. We slide to Nick in a hospital bed with General Ross in the room questioning Nick. Ross asks why a filthy mutant killing machine like Wolverine would carry Nick on his back across the desert. Nick says that it takes a certain type of man to represent an ideal to a nation and a world. Nick says that he is not that kind of man. Nick says that he is the man who ran away. [read the full post]

By noreply@blogger.com (Rokk Krinn) MARVEL COMICS NEWUNIVERSAL 1959 THOR #10 ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #124 WOLVERINE #67 WOLVERINE ORIGINS #27 However, the Marvel comic book that I am most looking forward to reading is Wolverine #67. I found Millar’s first issue of this story arc to be an absolute blast. I love the way that Millar is tapping into Eastwood’s Unforgiven in order to give us an intriguing old man Logan. I expect Wolverine #67 to be a highly entertaining read. Which Marvel comic book am I least looking forward to reading? That would be Wolverine: Origins #27. Daniel Way has made this title practically unreadable from the very first issue. I see no reason to believe that this trend will not continue with this latest issue of Wolverine: Origins. By Rokk Krinn Loeb supplies Wolverine #53 with solid dialogue. I like how Loeb handles Wolverine’s character. Wolverine has the proper external voice and he acts and reacts in the standard fashion that his character should. Loeb definitely has a better feel for Logan’s personality than Daniel Way over in Wolverine: Origins. And honestly, Wolverine’s past was irrelevant. Just about every Marvel hero has an origin and back-story. Not Wolverine. And that is what made him so unique. I always found it wild and bold that Marvel never gave Wolverine a real name or an origin. And that is what made Wolverine so special and cool. [read the full post]

By Rokk Krinn I like how Loeb handles Wolverine’s character. Loeb serves up a proper sounding external voice for Wolverine. Loeb gives a Wolverine that isn’t too over the top and vanilla in personality like what Way gives us on Wolverine: Origins. Loeb goes with a version of Wolverine much more like how Claremont used to write him. The Bad: Wolverine #52 was just a pedestrian issue. Loeb has failed to hook me on this story arc. Now, part of why I haven’t gotten into this story arc is that I have a philosophical difference with Marvel Comics on the direction for Wolverine’s character. I maintain that it is a massive mistake to give Wolverine his memories back. [read the full post]
