By Jim(noreply@blogger.com) Magneto has appeared over Utopia. Professor X asks him what he wants. Magneto does not want to speak to him, he is there to talk to Scott (Cyclops) Summers. As a sign that he is not looking for a fight, Magneto removes his helmet that protects him from psychic attacks. He gives his helmet to Scott. Professor X confronts him that it is a trap. Magneto refuses to fight. He says that Professor X and his time has passed. Professor launches a psychic attack. Magneto holds his ground but does not respond. The professor and Scott have an argument. Scott tells him to stand down. It is very understandable that Professor X would not trust Magneto. They have known each other for years and it always seems like Magneto has opposed him at every turn. No matter how many times he... [read the full post]

Claremont built up their personalities to the point that they seem like real people. Then when they are thrown into battles in the Savage Land, against giant robots, and fight superteams from other countries(or worlds), we care what happens to them. Into all the traditional comic storylines, Claremont added some very serious issues. The Beast approaches Angel. He wants to know why Angel is keeping secrets from him. Angel says he can't tell him. Angel flies away. As the process begins, the machine explodes. The High Evolutionary cries "Erik". The man comes out of the wreckage and says "No. Magneto..." [read the full post]

By Rokk Krinn(noreply@blogger.com) The best aspect of Uncanny X-Men #504 is that Marvel is finally getting around to addressing the various dangling plotlines from the Messiah Complex. I was beginning to think that Marvel was never going to get around to addressing the fallout from the Messiah Complex here in the pages of Uncanny X-Men. I found it strange that Fraction would have Colossus regress back into a depressed and mopey state over Kitty’s death. I thought that the purpose of Brubaker having Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Colossus travelling to Europe together was to help Peter move past Kitty’s death. And I also got the impression that Brubaker had Colossus grieve and finally come to terms with Kitty’s death and ready to move on and rejoin his fellow X-Men. [read the full post]

By Bodog(noreply@blogger.com) Uncanny X-Men #502 Land's art is good, but page two is a tally of prominent X-Men seen in the issue (except Storm, again like she was thrown in as an after thought), and other than make-up, there's no clear difference between Emma and Dazzler in the face.

Uncanny X-Men #503 Marvel Comics Fraction, Brubaker, Land and Ponsor Next the issue covers Empath and his rampage. While Scott and Emma play the dual role of tactician and communications center, Angel, Storm, Nightcrawler and Wolverine try to stop Empath. While this is going on Pixie has herself a breakout moment and some good interaction with Beast to boot. It’s a good issue. There is a decent sized cast and the issue moves fast enough so that none of them really eat up too much scenery. The banter between Nightcrawler and Wolverine is assuming while the dialogue between Cannonball, Karma and Mirage is meaningful. Empath proved to be an interesting villain, but wasn’t explored very much. [read the full post]

Uncanny X-Men #502 Marvel Comics Fraction, Brubaker & Land The X-Men fight the Hellfire Club. Along the way little floating bubbles show up above the various characters to give little introductions. This is a good thing to do in a comic. This sequence gives great interaction between Wolverine and Nightcrawler. They capture a Hellfire Club member. So while this seems like a good idea it feels a little old due to his relationships with Kitty, Jubilee, X-23 and Armor. I’m not saying it’s not okay, but I am saying it felt too familiar. To be sure we get plenty of cheesy dialogue during this fight that would fit in perfectly in a 1980’s Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Cyclops reminds Nightcrawler and Wolverine to bring back one of the thugs so they can question him. The last remaining Hellfire gang member left standing predictably pees his pants at the sight of Wolverine and Nightcrawler. (Oh, I have so never seen this in a comic book before. Top notch, Fraction.) Wolverine and Nightcrawler then capture the Hellfire thug. Wolverine attacks Empath. Empath quickly dispatches of Wolverine.
